It's Rashmika Mandanna, a Southie everywhere and she does dub her dialogues in Telugu.... Even, Pooja hedge dubs in Telugu and is the flavor of the season.... Samantha is half Telugu and Anushka Shetty at the age of 39, still getting great work....

Also, Rashmika Mandanna does represent south Indian girls...... So does Samantha.....

From Hollywood to whatever wood women are expected to be glam dolls..... So, it's not just the South Indian industry..... Even in Bollywood, we have Katrina Kaif, Nora Fateh, and Jacqueline....... They are not even from our country..

I do agree that the south industry's acceptance of a different color, size, and shape is just restricted to men..... They do have a storyline that serves launde lapade, who dream of getting a skinny, fair, tall rich girl.... Especially the Telugu industry. I am not complaining as sometimes I do enjoy the plotline.... But, it's high time Tollywood starts recruiting women from their region. Who knows they might spot a Sridevi or a Jayaprada.....

I do find the Malayalam industry more liberal though.....

Tamanna is only 30, Hansika is only 29, and they are both still very popular, so not really old news yet...

But about Pooja and Rashmika you're right, I think the white looking heroine trend is slowly fading away in Telugu movies...

And as for Anushka (love her btw), when it came to looks she was the exception rather than the rule for most of her career, there were hardly any other wheatish complexioned, curvy, typical South Indian looking heroines in those days...

I do agree that fair skin, rectangle body shape is preferred even in Bollywood, but in BW certain kinds of looks are preferred even for men, which is what makes it more equal...

And fair skin on women particularly isn't really sexualised/fetishised in BW to the extent that it is in Telugu movies, let's be honest... (can you imagine a heroine getting a cringey nickname like "milky beauty" in BW 🥱?)...

Yes you're absolutely right about Telugu industry though... mainstream films there are actually overall of a lower standard than in BW... lot's more regressive content in general too... though things are changing for the better recently which is good!

I think Telugu industry just had a very bad phase from 90s- mid 10s tbh, my dad watches old Telugu films often and by the looks of it there wasn't so much sleazy/regressive/mindless content in those days😆

There is a world beyond High budgeted top 4 heros based movies in telugu which non telugu people never even watch and judge.

Even comedians get better pay and roles than Northie girls ...flower pot roles. There arrive in a scene before song and leave ...same templete for 4-5 songs then take a family pic at the end credits.

A lot of telugu girls even refuse to do those roles .

Tamanna’s first role in Happy Days was an author backed role though. Haven’t watched much else of her otherwise(except of course Baahubali)

I'm also Telugu... but I'll admit I don't follow Telugu films much...

And that is true that they mostly only get flower pot roles, but then that seems to be most heroine roles in Telugu films tbh...

And I find it somewhat hard to believe that no Telugu girls will do these roles, as there are tonnes of female strugglers from Andhra/Telangana...

And if it's about skin show etc, even then you would probably find more south girls willing to do it than north, as south is actually more culturally liberal than north in many ways (hence most early BW actresses were south Indian, south has higher employment rates for women, and many of these songs which would be considered as obscene in the north are seen as family entertainment in Andhra/Telangana)...

I don't think it's south girls not wanting to do these roles, but rather producers not taking them because they have some set ideas that they want to rinse and repeat in every film.

If Bollywood actors were so handsome, Fawad Khan wouldn’t be the DP and drooling object for many Indians.

Ram Charan , Jr NTR , Allu Arjun( these guys literally carry the film on their shoulders) .... you just cannot compare the effort they put with Kapoors, khans or Bachchans .

These guys work so hard to not bring bad name for family on screen whereas BW kids mooch off family name only while giving free lecture on their struggles.

If the OP likes only fair skinned guys (gori chamdi) then we have so many of those . Our most spoofed Balakrishna is fairer than ur khans put together.

All of Nag sons , Navneeth , Naga Shourya etc etc..many many more are fair skinned.

THE BIGGEST misconception in INDIA that North indians are FAIR . They need a mirror .

Only SOME punjabis and Kashmiris nd hilly reagion people are. Which even we have...

most south indian fair skinned girls never ever enter film industry... most beautiful of south indian do not.

OP should stop watching spoof videos of some oldie actors to judge entire south men. Rajnikanth, Dhanush etc are a few exceptions.

100% agree

its myth that south indians are dark

if you go to some villages/mall towns i can show you women more beautiful that aishwarya rai in south india and more fair than any north indian or iranian etc

Yes more beautiful that aishwarya rai

Only thing they do not come to act so no one knows them

Usually costal area girls in karnataka/kerala/maharastra (konkan region they call it from where ash comes) are very pretty like kashmiri and punjabi girls because of the weather and mud etc there

But they have culture of becoming highly educated and do not go into acting (as it matriarchal society)

Even ash has masters degree or something like that

Even many costal area men are very handsome they can equal hollywood actors in looks (forget salman, srk etc they are avg )

again they are in villages and do not come to lime light

Again i am talking of only south india costal areas not north etc
