Maybe on some level but the underlying message in most of her movies are pretty simple tho.. and the characters look real even her “hifi money-people“ (ZNMD n DDD, specially Anil & Shifali’s) act and seem like real characters.. but I’d rather she makes movies she’s knows about like in Zindagi and Luck by Chance than making another slum dog Millionaire just to proof that she isn’t just about the rich and first world problems.. and free-spirited doesn’t actually mean anything.. it certainly doesn’t mean that leaving everything to go live on a beach or the mountains.. it’s about the balance but that’s not a very movie-friendly trope, I do get her point tho.. specially as I am getting older.. 20s mein toh sab free spirited hote hain..

*Maybe her next movie could be about how Laila and Arjuna Zindagi.. in present time are living a) “miserably” or b) “happily”.. have a bunch of kids, dealing with everyday life, bitter or maybe content.. Lol. Arjun leaving his Wall Street job and Laila settling down has made them —- dash dash will make the rest of the story/movie😆 but then we already have movies like Marriage Story or Linklater’s series Before Midnight etc

Why do we need to choose ? Can we not judge you every director on every film?

Perosnally I feel SLB's eye for detail. I know he went OTT with Kashibai not having her limp and dancing on Pinga but other than that the magic he manages to create with very limited sources of information is commendable.

All you mentioned above are pretty good in their own territory.
