Filmmakers aren't some office workers. They are public figures who are a part of public discourse. They are known names who influence public opinion on many topics. They write articles, lobby, appear on news shows ,become activists and so on..I will read about them and scrutinize them. I read about corporate battles too without being a fan of corporate czars.. I read about politicians of all hues without subscribing to their outlook. I take a dim view of them . There is no hard and fast boundaries between them as they all are in public life and do things that each other do. I bracket them in the same category- not a legal definition but I find discussing them fair game- others needn't agree.

Dear trolls, if you’re having trouble telling fact (news) from fiction (films), I suggest you collectively approach a shrink.

Rhea and others specifically targeted definitely have to approach the court of law.. Bollywood as a whole? Some people think it is right but I don't think so... Other industries are vilified too.. Anchors cry hoarse screaming corporate greed, names of businessmen are also dragged along in reports of scam.. It isn't that Bollywood a specific target.. A lot of industries are.. Politicians and policemen are targeted this way too... Diatribe against Mumbai /UP /Bihar police also takes place... .how was the coverage of Augusta Westland scam.. People were hounded then too.. Didn't Rajiv Gandhi suffer from Bofors allegations.. Media did it and the stain couldn't be washed away.. A lot of political careers were destroyed this way.. Does that mean scams shouldn't be investigated by journalists? Language should be censored but a lot of people in public life say worse things in media..a lot of people in public life, actors included just shoot allegations and scoot... Accountability lies with everyone who speaks to media.. Not just journalists but also the panelists.. The ones being interviewed.. The ones writing an op-Ed.. I feel members of Bollywood has been openly taking stances which will be questioned

The usual whataboutery. Others were stained so BW should accept being stained also.

Just because others are vilified too, Bollywood should shut up and not file a case to oppose the lies and defamation that are being spread against them? Kuch bhi.

Why are you so hurt that BW is standing up for itself and using the courts to do it which they have every right to?

. And then cry victim and gang up together..

I am not saying that media is God but I find it hypocritical when bollywood as an industry petitions like this. Whether they sue or not is their look out but I don't agree that Bollywood is the only victim. I hold on to my views in this regard

I am nowhere telling that they can't seek a legal opinion.. They can and they will.. It is a free country.... I found the stance rather rich coming from them.. I don't mean to say that they don't have legal redressal.. It is just that they cry foul when they are to be regulated. News need to be regulated first.... But what would be the industry's stance on regulating OTT? ( i know that it is fiction) but by that logic anything presented for public viewing must be approved isn't it..

I have my sympathies with the women who were victims of the whole ssr incident. They need an on - air apology.. . But I find Bollywood petition vain- again my opinion and I don't speak for anyone

You forget that Bollywood has a whole is being targeted. Not a particular production house. They're being called scum, dirty etc as a whole. More importantly, everyone in the Industry is suffering monetarily. So obviously they're going to sue the channels as a whole. When a whole industry is targeted, like the MILK industry was targeted in the US a few years ago, they sued the newspapers as a whole. When a particular Corporation is targetted, they sue the media by themselves. This is Class action lawsuit where many parties come together to sue the defendent for a common goal and is extremely extremely common. You target an industry, the industry sues you together.

The usual jumping to conclusions. Did I say that they shouldn't...I just told that I find it hypocritical. Did I preach anything? Kuch bhi

I commented about them usually saying that they are being selectively targeted by media and I pointed out that they aren't the only ones scrutinized by media. If you don't think so, it is fine. I am not begging them not to file a case telling inhe dekho unhe dekho..

Why are you so hurt by me giving my opinion on what I think about it? There are people whose opinions are different from yours and they will speak about it. Don't tell me what I should be feeling about them. The fact that they have access to legal channels was never disputed by me. I am entitled my opinions about the industry. When they can pass opinion on everything on earth, so can I.

I know they do.. they should if they find it fit to.. it is just that I find pot calling the kettle black- just what I feel. I understand what you are telling..i am not disputing that.

I get the concept of class action lawsuits and livelihoods being affected. I perfectly sympathize with the concerns of the lower rung. It is just that I see no difference between the top rung of Bollywood, news moguls, corporates and politicians.. I might be wrong too but it is just my observation.

Having said that I fully agree that everyone has the right to legal remedies.

How is it the pot calling the kettle black? Was Bollywood as an industry (or even as individuals) calling these media houses or any other industry drugged up murdering mafia scum 24/7 for months on end? This is a clear case of defamation. The media wasn't reporting news or even investigating news, they were making up news and slandering individuals and Bollywood as a whole for ratings. They violated the ethics of their own profession and they're getting sued. It's perfectly just.

yeah the slander was horrible, Sara Ali khan's instagram has gone dead, I assume she earns through instagram, her followers decreasing when she was one of the fastest growing. and probably affected her endorsements. they made all this money off trp's etc, and all these people got sm followers/views based on slander.
