Whaattttt ☢️

The Haunting of Hill House is just about THE BEST horror series i have ever seen .. The stories of the siblings culminating to the neatly tied up ending is just about THE MOST satisfying thing i have seen .. This one is among my top 3 all time favorite horror flicks alongside The Skeleton Key and The Others .. Horror movies / series are rarely good ,so i treasure the good ones .. 😆 .. Bulbul was blah BTW .. I guess the over hyping of Bulbul in forum led to disappointment , should've watched it with lower expectations .. 🤔

Eagerly waiting for The Haunting of Bly Manor ..

OT : Finished half of it .. Half still pending .. I agree the girl who plays Enola ( 11 from stranger things ) is an outstanding actress ! ⭐️

So, I guess I’m in minority then, I didn’t like it. Hated what they have done to Mycroft Holmes character. He’s the most unique character in the SH series and they massacred his character to create an villain. And I don’t even understand what Henry Cavill is doing in it as Sherlock Holmes.

Even the final mystery reveal of her mother was an phuski bomb. The only detective work dove by Enola is the unscrambling of words. That’s it. And they tried too much to insert the feminist narrative that they sacrificed the story for it. And lastly, I think Millie Brown overacted in some of the scenes.

May be I’m not the right demographic for this. It would be fun for teenagers and adolescent girls. I’m too much of an SH fan to see it butchered like this😪

I couldn't make out she is the same Eleven. What a fine young talented woman she is morphed into. Already started her venture as an actor and producer and has makeup line !

I think the movie is strictly good for one time watch and that too if you've 2 hours to kill with nothing else to do.

But it's a pretty much light hearted breezy fun watch and Millie was great.

Hate what they did with Mycroft's character though.

Henry looked too handsome for Sherlock lol. Also he's much too beefed when Sherlock was decidedly sinewy and thin.

P.s. I know it's based on a ff book series.

The reason for the whole mystery was lame.

SPOILERS

From the beginning she suspects that her mom does not want to be found, but she misinterprets the clues and is confused if this was set up for her as a challenge.

The moment she finds those bombs she knows that her mom does not want to be found.

They sorta emphasized that the mother had an alternate life of her own and did not intend to be tied to the kids forever. Nor wanted them to be dependent on her.

I think if this is gonna have sequels, then this film would be counted as film 0, rather than 1.

Maybe Netflix will turn it into a series, instead.

Sherlock had no role in the film. They only had him on the sidelines so that Lestrade could say that one line in the end to suggest that Enola was better than him. Bas! And since Sherlock is the name around which Enola's identity has been created, he had to be in the first film atleast. That is why Cavill instead of Cumberbatch. They dont want people to identify with Sherlock or Mycroft.

It would have looked silly if they didnt have Sherlock at all. They just had enough of him to ensure that:

1. They didnt ruin the character and its legacy. (Coz Sherlock had refused the case, he wasnt invested in it. He jst solved it in the end for the heck of it, with no effort. Or that's what I felt they wanted to indicate).

2. They didnt want Sherlock to overshadow Enola coz they wanted to establish her character and set her up to take on things alone in the futute Enola Holmes films.

If there is a next film, I think it will have even less of Sherlock. And from then onwards they will jst leave it at a casual mention, letters, calls, instead of having him in the film.

Maybe same with Mycroft. They jst want to disconnect these characters from each other so that Enola films establish their own identity at some point without having to refer to Sherlock at all.

It all depends on how well the film is accepted. A lot of people are liking Millie and hence liking the film. Not vice versa.
