Be it love or arranged, marriage is pure gamble and nothing else. I wish, Indians were more open to divorces etc rather than putting up in shitty relationships.
You're married, right? What kind of match did you get? 😆

I wonder how true this is. Arranged marriages are often associated with certain cultures. Cultures where historically speaking divorce is never really an option. So you ‘stick it out’, even if unhappy. How do we then really measure longevity? That’s not to say people in love marriages in these same cultures don’t face the same divorce stigma.

Divorce isn't really a stigma anymore, so to speak. Parents and relatives now mostly leave the decision to the couple and stop interfering after a point.
I want to try a revenge marriage because I have watched too many shows and movies based on this concept and the relationship seems interesting compared to love and arranged marriages 😆

I know what you mean. But if you think, most of this crowd would have parents to answer to. Which is sad. This is a way to calm them and maintain peace at home. As long as the partners are not kept in dark before marriage, it's all good.
I doubt how many of these people have no family (which is sad of another level) and still do this. I dont know much so I am asking.
I mean I understand the pressure they must be having still I just can’t comprehend it.
There is a rise in Asian community to either come out in the open or go for open marriages. I guess open marriage keeps the family happy and they can have their own thing going on.
By gods grace I’m not married.
My parents had an arranged marriage and I have grown up as a third wheel. These two are so into each other they legit forget I exist. Love marriage hoti toh kya hota. *shudders*

How I wish this were actually true and all parents were that progressive. Sadly, log kya kahenge still plagues Indian society.
My friend married a guy who was asexual without knowing, moved abroad and her parents till date still tell her to go back. P.S. In the end, she did a runner.
