Rhea Chakraborty retracts confession in drugs case, says she was forced by NCB

Rhea Chakraborty’s bail plea was not accepted by the court after the prosecution raised objections regarding jurisdiction of the magistrate court to hear her plea.

Actor Rhea Chakroborty and her brother Showik have approached the special court under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for bail as their pleas were rejected by the Magistrate court on Wednesday.

In her plea, Rhea has stated that she is innocent and falsely implicated in the case. Further, it is claimed that Rhea “was coerced into making self-incriminatory confessions and by her application on September 8 the applicant has formally retracted all such incriminatory confessions”.

The actor’s bail plea too was not accepted by the court after the prosecution raised objections regarding jurisdiction of the magistrate court to hear her plea.

Questioned for three days by all levels of officers of the NCB from September 6 to 8, Rhea was formally arrested on Tuesday. “There was not a single lady officer who interrogated the present applicant as mandated by law. The Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case of Sheela Barse VS State Maharashtra, has held that the interrogation of females should be carried out only in the presence of a female police officer/constable,” reads the bail application, highlighting that the agency failed to comply with the guidelines of the apex court.

Shit hit the fan....... Her lawyer must have advised her to do that.

Shameful that an organization like NCB cannot even follow the basic directive of having a female officer present when a woman is being interrogated.

It is in BJP's interest to keep her locked up till the Bihar elections, so they will keep trying various stunts to keep her behind bars, using whatever coercive methods they can apply.

But I am so glad she is fighting back. She isn't going to give up so easily.

Go Rhea. You be strong. We are with you. Let's smash this patriarchy and witch hunt in one go.

You really thought she was gonna stick to that confession? I don't think such admissions are even admissable in court to begin with. They force a confession out so they can find evidence before the accused retracts their statement. Thats all that is possible . Even without a campaign she would have retracted.

I’ve seriously lost track of what’s been confessed and what’s been retracted. You had 2 months to make up your mind about what crimes you did and did not commit. At least get your story straight.🤦🏽‍♀️

LOL. From her body language , she doesn't come across to be the type of person who can be pressurized to confess something this big. Just look at the footages of her arriving/leaving NCB office. Also the one from Bandra police station and the way she had elbowed / stared at the media during CBI investigation phase.

My point is if she's innocent, why not fight it out based on facts and evidences? Why act like a damsel in distress on one day for photo-op and go back to your normal self a day later? Trying to hide behind the veil of patriarchy and feminism won't help.
