I think it's a very good question and I have often thought about it when watching ZNMD and films like Tamasha.
To me the answer is, at least in the case of ZNMD, that you don't have to give up your career obviously. But in Hrithik's case it did seem like the wrong things were driving him- despite being the most successful, to me, he appeared to be the most insecure, which is something Katrina's character also picks up on. He seemed in awe of Abhay's wealth- and even implies Abhay is marring Kalki's character for money - also felt like he had a point to prove to Farhan's character after his girlfriend cheated on him. He's also shown as dissatisfied since his recent girlfriend dumped him for being a workaholic. I think the point is that there has to be a balance in life and even if you succeed in your career, that is only half the pie. Isnt that true in life?
i dont think he quits his job in the end, he just learns to appreciate personal relationships and live a fuller life and focus on what's important. You may have great success, but could still be a failure in your personal life.
Also, it's a film about rich people I guess. so in today's climate a film about travel and finding yourself might seem a little out of place hehe. And definitely does not apply to someone starting their career.
Wan't his last dialogue like f the job and I'm gonna live with laila? Tbh i don't blame Arjun's character completely for being workaholic. You just have to take some things in life seriously. A lot of movies in BW show that men is at fault for being workaholic when their personal relationships fail but would any girl want to be in a relationship with someone who is struggling to make ends meet? The answer is probably no.

True but the opposite extreme would also be true- no girl would want to stay with someone who puts her last. This movie has of course dramatised this conflict- whereas in real life there are many compromises, adjustments and sacrifices we have to make. But it has a point of view- that life should be lived to the fullest and everything should be in balance- love, career and responsibilities. i would say Imran actually has the opposite lesson to Arjun's- he learns to start taking stuff seriously and takes responsibility for his actions.
Maybe Im wrong but I think HR's last dialogue was that he will go stay with Laila for a while, like a break. Which only people at his level of success can afford to do, so you have a point there.
Hrithik's last words were mein Laila ke saath Morocco jaonga
No.
Zoya is born with silver spoon
she can afford to live like that
some people cannot forget bill and live a fun life
Interesting discussion. I’d love to do what they did but take a sabbatical for 6 months to a year and do it. To live and be that carefree in life? Most people have mortgages to pay, bills to pay and can’t afford to be that stress free. And honestly speaking, sometimes it’s a trade off. You either be a workaholic and get that new BMW car or you spend all your money ‘having fun’ and can’t always afford other luxuries. (For some that’s a car, for others it might be putting their kid through private school)

That tomato party only looked good on screen. In reality its the nastiest and most disgusting thing ON EARTH. At the end you are walking in a river of piss, vomit and tomatoes 🤢
Don’t care about the future was not the message, balance is the key, too much engraved in work or to be in a toxic relationship is not healthy.
Life is a lot more complicated in real life. Nothing is in your hand most if the time.
I don't get the problem to be honest.. The movie just used an exaggerated way to show k one shouldn't be so engulfed in a particular thing that he forgets the rest of the world
Like Kalki got engrossed in her wedding
HR in his work
Farhan in the truth of his parentage
It was about taking time out for things you love.. What's the point of slogging at work day and night if you can't even take a few days for yourself.. Fine you don't have the money to go on vacations.. Use the weekends to do what you love.. Go to a farmhouse.. indulge in your favorite hobby
None of the guys or girls left their career for good in the movie.. They just learned to loosen up a bit and that's the only thing that matters.
