I think the problem is the role of the bollywood heroine has changed, before there would be the heroine and the vamp did the item songs. now the heroine has to do the item songs, and the girl next door has disappeared. we don't have the roles that made heroines Kajol, Juhi etc.

I was watching Vijayantimala s song Neel gagan ki chaaoome... she look like a goddess.. her emotions, her grace, her dance, her skin... just classic... no one... no one in current generation can match that..

You know its bad when you know actresses (and actors) now have “starter” movies where they get time and years to “explore their craft”

Yeah definitely...

The fall in standards of both actors and actresses when it comes to talent, looks and screen presence can be directly attributed to nepotism...

Since interesting, talented and good looking outsiders are almost always robbed of good scripts and big banner films, the competition has basically become limited to mediocre nepo kids. So people like Alia and Shraddha “win” the competition and become successful, not because they are really that great but because they are simply less awful compared to the likes of Sonam, Jahnvi or Athiya Shetty...

Forget the insiders. Even the so-called outsiders are mediocre. As Abishek Bachchan said if only they concentrated half as much time honing their craft as they spend in the gym. Sure there are flashes of talent. But they fade away soon. KJo has proved with Alia that the audience are sheep. With the right kind of reviews and social media presence they can create a star overnight...instead of waiting for the star to emerge from her cocoon naturally.Mixing my metaphors here. But you get the idea.

I agree partially with what you said- it’s 100% true that stars are created artificially through PR these days.

Alia definitely comes under that category, but I don’t think her success (so far) really proves that people are sheep. Rather it proves that people give more importance to the film having a good story (Like SOTY, the Dulhaniya movies and Raazi ) more than who is in it- which has always been the case. And when Alia was in movies with bad stories, they failed HORRENDOUSLY ( see Kalank, Shandaar and now Sadak 2 😂).

Only a superstar can make a film with a bad story do well just by being in it- and that is something Alia never was, isn’t and clearly never will be. And I’m not just trying to target Alia here- Ananya, Jahnvi, or even Sara will never be superstars either.

Because superstars just can’t be created through endless PR and stealing all the good scripts. Superstars are created through immense popularity among the common public, which Alia was just unable to generate- and I doubt any of these other nepo girls will be able to either.

And as for the outsiders being equally mediocre, I disagree- there are many talented outsiders too but they get edged out due to nepos taking all the best roles and these outsiders being left with the scraps that nepos don’t want...

If any outsiders are doing well regardless of being given only rubbish scripts and looking like they might reach that superstar status, then what these people do to them can be seen with what happened to Sushant 😔💔

You say "nostalgia", I say "genuine talent, charisma and beauty" - show me a contemporary 21-year-old actress who would be able to pull it off like Madhuri:

Until all these Alia, Ananya, Jhanvi types are forced to us, nothing can change. Alia is a decent actor though.
