People tend to believe that great acting is the reason why actors become stars. It's not. Stardom isn't possible without decent acting but what's more important is the connect with mass audiences, the star's charisma, and her/his on-screen presence.
I don't know why people complain about these "poor" actors making it huge and not "great" actors. It's simple. Why is fast food culture more popular than 5-star delicacy or fresh, organic consumption? It's tastier. It's easily accessible. And, it caters to our sense of indulgence.
That's the case with actors/acting. A cinephile may prefer a Ship of Theseus but for a common person who wants to be entertained, they would prefer larger-than-life personalities in entertaining movies.
There is audience for niche cinema and great method actors. Likewise, there is space for stars and mass entertainers.
I'll never understand why these two sets of fans are unable to see the worth of each types of films/actors.
