OK! After the debacle of Naagin 4, I thought it was too early for EK to launch Naagin 5. And honestly, if it weren't for Mohit Sehgal, I wouldn't have started watching the show. But Ekta managed to recreate the magic of Naagin 1 initial episodes with Naagin 5. The story of Naageshwari and Aakesh was brilliant and their interaction was really amazing. What I hated, that they made Hriday a completely useless character. A good love triangle always have two equally strong contenders so that audience never knows who the heroine would end up with. But Hriday's character doesn't have any spark.
After leap, I feel Surabhi Chandna doesn't have that glamor and femme fatale personality that's associated with Naagin. Mouni, Surabhi Jyoti's characters have that ruthless streak but SC's character is too much seedhi saadi and Cinderella like character and doesn't look like a Naagin.
Then comes Jai Mathur. Frankly I was a Samrat fan in Miley Jab Hum Tum and I was low-key hoping him to be Cheel. But he's the straight-laced, good boy Jai Mathur. I hate when EK botches one character to emphasize another. I'd have loved to see Jai with more shades but as evident, CVs completely neglected his character. I wish to see his old time Samrat charm again as Jai.
Next comes Veer. Honestly I thought Sharad was a bit old to be paired with Surabhi and I wasn't sure Sharad would be able to play a grey shade character after seeing him as goofy Rishi. But yes Sharad was the best thing after leap. He slayed with his acting. I low-key hope him to be Hriday as it would be fun to see a role reversal and see Hriday undergo a transformation after getting duped by cheel. I also hope Sharad's character to remember everything from his previous incarnation though I wish both Jai and Veer to be humans this time. I'm looking forward to see more of Sharad and hope CVs add more layers to Jai.
Naagin 5 still has those irritating characters as Baani's chachi and cousins. I don't know why EK adds such irritating characters as family members who don't add anything to the plot.
