It's a little complicated.

I'll try to explain what I could understand.

So Mumbai police started investigating (? ) after Sushant's death.

But they didn't file any FIR

Sushant's father filed FIR in Bihar for this.

Bihar police then requested for CBI investigation.

But since Sushant's death happened in Mumbai, so according to Mumbai police the case can only be handed over to CBI by Mumbai police only.

Now Supreme court will take final decision whether the case will be handled over to CBI or not.

On 11th August, Supreme court asked them to submit some written document within a day, which they did.

Now the supreme court has adjourned the verdict to 21st August.

I don't know whether they will give final verdict on 21st August or not, but let's wait and see

How will the Mumbai police ever hand this case over to the CBI folks? If that's what needs to be done, that sounds close to impossible if we go by the way the Mumbai police has been behaving around this case.

Aaaand we don't want the Mumbai Police who barely (and intentionally?) did any credible investigation to present their proof pertaining to the case to CBI. Also because they're a bunch who declared Sushant's death a suicide without seeing the body hanging, who randomly quarantined a Bihar officer (and let everyone else go), and who are seemingly in favour of closing the case, rubbish any abetment or murder angle.
