Had some time in the lunch hour so finished watching the first epi of Bandish Bandits.
Actually, I mostly liked it😆....Radhe definitely stands out. I was pleasantly surprised to see most of the focus on the classical side/gharaana angle of the story rather than playing up the hashtag waali popstar angle which I find irritating. And that's why the promo was so misleading and did injustice to their own content caz that's the core of the show that's the crux of the story they are the main characters the gharana is what it's all about yet it was hardly in the promo. I loved the way they've shown the dedication towards this art the respect they shower on it and how precious it is to them despite the hardships they face due to the restrictions that come with it yet they all have such love for it and the whole thing is shown so beautifully the love and respect towards the genuine art of classical singing was the highlight. The stand out scene moment of the episode was when the ignorant fools like tam make fun if it and how radhe shuts them by his singing and they go spellbound 😆
The sheer PRESENCE of Naseeruddin Shah in the opening riyaaz wala scene as he picks on each person to sing....awesome. Definitely refreshing to see a show making the effort to show the nuances and efforts of training in and making music than just doing token songs.
Tamanna ki first concert also wasn't bad....I was expecting worse based on the promos....lol....her initial scenes were actually fine with her frustration of feeling a creative block, her interaction with her dad etc. The instant flirting with Radhe was kinda weird and part of what I felt was OTT in the promos also.....but there are definitely moments of thehraav in her character as she honestly appreciates his music. Yup and that's why I said you'll warm upto her caz she isn't really the bimbo the promo made her out to be. She may not be as talented and might be modern but she isn't dumb and that itself is a win caz usually such characters are reduced to be caricatures and mindless bimbos or mean dolls. Tammanah is neither she has this honesty in her character too despite her being not so talented yes the portions where she's trying to flirt were a little ott but I've seen worse 😆
The scene when Radhe has a breakthrough moment of cracking that sur the first time he meets Tam after the concert....lol that was a good one....the way he ran all the way back to his grandad while holding the note😆. Also, the guy has a nice, deep sounding voice that stands out nicely in his scenes. Good actor. I've been watching the xray videos and am even more blown away with how much learning it was for all of them esp ritvik to lipsync all the classical songs to get the body language gestures facial expressions right and then after learning all that, learning how to make mistakes in takes when radhe makes a mistake and I was blown by that aaj kal who puts this much effort in a character. He gets better and radhe is just a sweetheart. I am genuinly curious about the future projects of him caz I really adored how well done radhe is . Btw is it me or he resembles ali zafar a bit I kept getting distracted at times
I like the patronage angle....it has a dignity in the way it has been woven in ki from old times, the kings used to value the musicians and give them so much respect in their courts. Abhi yeh modern day king is also valuing a classical singer so much so that's nice. Yup I had a feeling that this highness might turn out to be evil at some.point but nope he has grey for sure and won't ruin it but he isn't a meanie moonh pe kuch aur aur parth peeche kuch aur.
Radhe's family dynamics are interesting so far with his dad feeling the financial constraints, then his chacha and even his mom.....all well cast.
Chalo, I liked it enough to keep watching....will try to watch the rest by evening.
