So when these insidious issues within bollywood are raised, it's very condescending of people like you and some others here to be so flippantly dismissive and tell people like us, HEY if you don't like it, don't watch it! I mean, are you kidding me?!! Is that meant to somehow deflect the discussion on unethical behavior and power abuse? If I hear that one more time, I'm gonna tell them to shove their "advice" up where the sun doesn't shine.

I never once talked about unethical behavior like blinds, smear campaigns, power moves, etc. There is no defense for those practices, that was not even in my discussion so these issues were never raised right now. We were simply talking about star kids not making the most of their opportunities and how the audience receives it.

I never said there wasn't an uneven playing field but the only change we can implement ourselves is to watch the content and talent that we truly want to support. There are many good movies with good talent that release every year. The industry, media, etc needs to change and even the playing field as well but we also have the power to put our money behind who we want.

How do I have the power if I want to actually watch Gunjan Saxena's story but have to bear Janvi's terrible acting?

Absolutely--everyone is allowed to play the cards right and move ahead but from what I deduce, the topicmaker is talking about the blatant disregard for merit/talent just to advance their career. Free will is there, but clinging to the doctrine of free will to justify every single thing that happens in bollywood --from the subtle to the obvious, also doesn't sit well with me.

Sorry for my post earlier, must be one of those days I wanna bite everyone's head off.

If Janvi was cheese and the movie was a burger, I'd order a burger with no cheese. Now that's free will. 😆

But what if I want to watch a movie about Gunjan Saxena? Does that mean I should lap up Janvhi's cringe worthy dialogues? Uski "fire" dialogue mein itni thandi thi, usse acha "ice" hi bol deti 😆

What documentary? What if I wanna watch the movie though? Does that mean I have to feel second hand embarrassment of watching Janvhi say "fire" like a phuski 😆
