Vishnu took birth as a mortal man - Ram only to kill Ravan. Ravan had asked for a boon from Lord Brahma that no God nor any demon can kill him. He thought less of men and that he can easily manuver men as they don't have demonic strength. Besides it is said that Saraswati herself sat on Manthara's tongue to convince Kaikaiye to affect the turn of events later on ...

So miscommunication or not, it was destined to happen.

Ofcourse tan, all these great epics teach us something or the other. Like when Ram listens to a dhobi and sends pregnant Sita away, it shows his shallowness inspite of being a great king. Albeit, he repented for what he did life long, but Sita and her sons Luv-Kush suffered becoz of it. It shows that even the lord himself has to undergo lot of trials and tribulations when he is born as a mortal man. It goes to show that it is so hard to be a mortal human being.
