What are some good things about BW? - Page 2

Also, going forward, maybe the likes of KJo/Bhatts may make some masterpieces, but I am sorry I won't be watching their movies because I can't and won't be able to disconnect it from what could have gone offscreen to make the movie.

I gotta admit that I will no longer be able to just support 'talent' like I used to, and watch a film purely based on its trailer. I will look at who made it, and the team of the film (from actors to directors to producers)

As it is, past few years I've been watching lesser and lesser BW movies because I just don't find quality movies being made anymore. Most films centre around trashy biopics, sex, drugs, violence/rape and item numbers.. I miss when Bollywood made movies that you could just enjoy with your family.

Your post made me go sighhhhhhh because I've grown to really dislike Bollywood in the past month or so. The people disgust me in general. Usually I'm someone who is more concerned about what actors are doing on screen rather than off screen but with all the revelations that are happening, I can't disconnect the off screen shit from what I see on screen anymore.

The only saving grace for me is watching old songs / movies (esp between 1950s - late 1980s) and just enjoying the simplicity of that era that I wish I was born in. Not to say, it didn't have its share of dirty politics back then, but there was less greed for sure (because people had not seen the world we see today)

Bollywood is a victim of its own identity. With its enormous reach, with its tremendous impact and with its religion like stature in the minds of people, it has the power to transform the nation, it has the power to transform the people, it has the power to transform the evolution entirely yet it sustains itself continuously in the demand supply chain and keeps churning out what people ask for and what people know rather than launching into uncharted territory. Bollywood lives inside a cage and can never think out of the box.

Still, I love BW for its entertainment factor, songs, and for delivering gems once in a while. I love the films of Vikramaditya Motwane, Shoojit Sircar, Sujoy Ghosh, and some female directors like Gauri Shinde and Ashwini Iyer Tiwari.

@BOLD: quality filmmakers who just never got their due, again proof of how Bollywood is so obsessed with creating buzz and big opening numbers that real quality films are not promoted, and quality filmmakers are not celebrated.

Yeah, and Sujoy Ghosh's films have been blockbusters like Kahaani and Badla, still doesn't get enough buzz.

Have you seen Badla? I liked it better than the original.
