I was equally shattered for days after hearing the sad news but to be honest I can't fake that I liked DB. I just didn't feel connect to the characters. Maybe coz I saw the original and loved them too much.

I didn't like it either. It felt too rushed and had bad editing. SSR was overdoing it trying to be cute and likable. Like an offscreen RS, too hyper. But here it was more like too much of what SRK does in romantic films, same facial emotions and all that.
Sanjana was good but her character too was not well-portrayed. I understand now why the production house asked for reshoots and was not happy with how the film turned out. It could have been better.
Also did anyone find SSR looking way older than Sanjana in the film? His character not him offscreen. Because it's awkward how she looks like a kid going to college and he looks way older than her, not just a couple of years like the film said.
The film seemed like it had the potential to be very special but it didnt take off the way it could have due to technical handling of it not being good,
Hated the way it was shot, it was like the scenes were going nowhere and jumping from one point to another abruptly. Why was SSR older? What was his back story? Also the rajnikanth movie they shot, again felt rushed and out of place.
Sanjana was patchy and a little blank at times but she looked good. I also dont like it when they try to make the hero/heroine all fake "bubbly"- I much preferred SSR's serious and intense scenes in the film, he acted his heart out there, as Kriti Sanon also said in her post for the film.
Positives- music was beautiful and soulful. I liked the setting of Jamshedpur and it was nice to see other parts of India except Delhi/Bombay/Mythical small town, Kizie's parents acted very very well and of course SSR's performance was beautiful(cant be objective about him yet)
I do forgive them a lot of these errors because the film probably had no post production or reshoots to address glitches given everything that happened.
As I said, I don’t know why they shot some scenes in Paris when they could have gone to anywhere in India or some cheap foreign country than France.
I heard they removed a lot of scenes due to emtional public outbursts and suicides post his demise.
No idea about the authenticity of this news but it is believable because it does look like there were abrupt cut and play of scenes.
I could watch it for like 40 mins only.
I will be honest. The book was everything no matter how many movies they will make, the book will tear me up everytime. I did not even like the English apadation of it so much. But I did not see the movie for plot or anything else. I saw it for sushant, trying to get closure for myself over his death. I am not very attached to Bollywood but I do have my faves but this year took away two people whose work I admired a lot in this Bollywood. Sushant and irrfan both. Irrfan though still I was very sad but It did not affect like Sushant's did. It is still taking me time to get over his death, I have followed this guy from pavitra rishta and last movie which I saw in theatre was his. Dil bechara was not upto exceptations, it was too short but nevertheless sushant gave a good performance. People who watched the movie also watched it to celebrate sushant more than anything. My sister also felt it was not so good but still she teared up in last few minutes of the movie because it was the last time we would be witnessing him act.
I couldn't even finish the first half. Sushant's antics appeared overdone and he was one decade too old for the character. Would have tanked if it released at the box office. Oh for sure.
I don't see much future for the actress. She was one note throughout the film.
Personally, I loved the film for what it was. It was believable. I loved the characters, the acting and the way the score blended into the narrative.
As much as I have been affected by Sushant's death, I was able to disconnect the reality from the film. Not until the film ended, that I snapped out of it and it hit me that this would be the last time we'll be seeing him and I started analysing how there were moments when Sushant/Manny blanded into one.

I started that after being emotional from the songs of the movie but couldn't see it.
