As cliché as it may sound, Sid could be one of those actors who are a director’s actor. Maybe he needs an Imtiaz Ali, SLB or an Anurag Kashyap movie!

Also, his choice of movies sucks. He was offered one of those Race sequels by Salman Khan, but he declined.

You should watch this video it really explains Sid's shortcomings well:

After SOTY came out, I was quite sure Varun would get stuck in masala films and Sid will be the more promising one because I loved Hasee toh Phasee and Ek Villain. Lekin aaj Varun bohot age nikal gaya hai and rightfully so he chooses his films carefully. Sid just needs to make better choices with his scripts to get out of the slump. Perhaps Shershah might do it.

i agree. I don’t understand why he is rejected as he has got the looks and is somewhat talented too. A good director can definitely take him to notch higher

Sid has good looks going for him and in his interviews he comes across as very interesting. But he has a bland persona onscreen. He has not yet developed that sheer magnetism of a star, that "don't take your eyes off me" factor which he should have developed by this stage in his career. I find that he gives a better performance with good actors - say the cast of Kapoor & sons or Parineeti in Hasee to Phasee. But with a Katrina or Shraddha he becomes so wooden.

I agree he lacks the magnetism factor, but his good looks more than make up for that. And he's a director's actor, I feel. He can shine in certain projects, which are more suited to his personality. He doesn't have that larger-than-life persona. But he's a decent actor.

He has got the stardom more than he deserves to be honest. He was the one I rooted for most during SOTY but somehow he himself couldn't find his way. I won't talk about Nepotism thing in this case, he is an outsider, he made it himself but after he got the launch, he wasn't an outsider anymore. He got the perfect launch and equal footing with two star kids, he has the best thing on his side, his looks. While when I compare him with Ayushmann and Raj Kumar and Sushant, we can say that he got everything more than he deserved. He had KJO by his side.

While Ayushmann, RKR and Sushant all made it on their own and still don't get the same rage. They aren't that good looking, launched with not so big names, made themselves noticed with small movies and are still going good.

Siddharth really needs to work on himself, otherwise, he will be out and I won't say he didn't get time to prove himself, he got everything, much more than he deserves. And people still are crazy for him. While there are far better actors than him who are still struggling, didn't get the same launch and hype.

Sid Malhotra is going through the same situation any good looking male goes through in Bollywood, he doesn't have a strong male fan base. Despite what anyone says , to be successful in Bollywood it is essential to have a strong male fan group. Look at Shahid Kapoor for example he had a strong female fan base yet constantly struggled but the moment he made a film which catered to males in India ( Kabir Singh) he saw more success. Further examples such as Salman and Tiger Shroff. I feel Sid has alot of wasted potential, he has a decent fan base and has somewhat of a screen presence. Marjaavan had a pretty good weekend despite what people say and if it wasn't such a masala type film it would have done way better. Sid still has time and I can see him going the Akki way

I don't think it has anything to do with looks. Honestly, Salman Khan is good-looking and has a huge male fan base.

Siddharth's suave nature won't appeal to the launde lapades. he's too much of a gentleman to appeal to those who like OTTness, chichorapan and the like. Sid is low-key and not a showoff.
