Self made is a phrase people use for the ones who have nothing to begin with and come a long way....Doesn’t mean they achieved all that without anyone’s support! Of course finding the right directors, convincing them to get a part and then convincing the audience that he deserves their time- it is all part of the deal!

You are losing my point. Director is a sailer of the ship. If movie is not going along with the script audience looses the focus. I will give a great example. Taare Zameen Par. How the movie was flowing with actors and script. You cannot give all the credit to Aamir khan but the director who hold the movie and made sure every actor is giving their best shot and does not need any rehearsals.

Suicide is a very sensitive topic and nitesh tiwari hold the movie together. He made sure each actor has given their best. I could not even recognized Shraddha and Sushant in second half. I do consider him a genius. Why do you think Sushant worked in PK for free because he wanted to experience to work with Raj Hirani.

There is a reason why Srk never argued with yash chopra about his fees. Because Everyone knows the craft Yash chopra brings in his music. Best music, best dialogue and best movies. He was not just a great director but a wonderful human being. For him cinema was his passion and not a business. Once Srk came in, he always made actor role having Srk in mind.

Everyone knew Yash Chopra was the best (which he was) and yet no one was willing to do Darr or DDLJ

Wrong again.. Shahrukh was the fourth choice for DDLJ.. the movie was not made with him in mind.. it was the humongous success of DDLJ that earned him the love of Yash Chopra and they went on to many films because both were benefited from it
