Hello guys! đ
This is my first post in this forum. I am mostly a silent reader and knew the basic plot of Barrister Babu. A couple of days ago, I came across this brilliant VM made on Anirudh and Saudamini in this forum and got so amazed that I decided to watch the show. đ€
After watching the first 36 episodes, I felt certain things have been stretched too far whereas certain positive things are worth mentioning đđŒ. Hence decided to post my opinion.
My intention is not to hurt any fan or any actor in particular. This is just my honest opinion and would love to know about your views too. đ
Moving onâŠâŠâŠ
I feel the best thing about this show is Bonditaâs character. đđŒ I loved how the makers havenât made her a Dadi Amma unlike some other shows in recent times where the kids were the protagonists or a really big part of the show. đđŒ I absolutely loved how they retained the innocence of a 8 years old and also showed her inquisitiveness without making it look superficial or forced. The girl has questions, she asks people and she too believes in certain norms taught by her mother - which makes her completely relatable. đ€
Aurra is most definitely one of the best child actresses I have seen. đ Specially, considering her age and the importance of her character, I think it wouldnât be too wrong if I say she is the best among the lot. đ
The basic plot of the show is great and I really hope the makers donât deviate much. đđŒ
Which brings me back to my disappointment regarding the show. đ€
Personally I felt both Anirudhâs and Saudaminiâs characters have been written horribly. đđŒ Anirudh being the ML may improve with time but the way they have made Saudamini pitch black, I found it absolutely deplorable. đĄ đ€Ź
From the beginning they have portrayed the relationship in such a way that itâs easier to claim Mini is not a good girl and Ani is great whereas I felt the opposite. đ€
Which girl wouldnât want to be appreciated by her lover? Who wouldnât want to be the center of her belovedâs world? I donât blame Mini for wanting Aniâs attention. They were childhood lovers and she kept waiting for him. So any girl would feel offended if suddenly that person starts singing praises of an unknown personâs letter. Yes, on the surface it looked shallow that she didnât like Aniâs idea of changing the society and wanted to move abroad with him. But the underlying emotion wasnât wrong.
Your mind setup depends on your environment too. Ani might have never wanted to change the society in the first place if he hadn't been insulted by a British in the party. Despite her intelligence, Boni still believed her Pati is her Parmeshwar because thatâs what her mother told her.
So Mini being a privileged young adult who is also extremely pretty wouldnât really know about the struggle of other women. Like any other person she just wanted an even better future with her love. I donât blame her for that. Yes, she isn't the best, most generous person out there but she isn't essentially selfish too. She is just another normal human being for me.
I rather hated the writers for showing the longing and desire in such a negative way that the love of a young girls seemed like her obsession. đĄ đĄ đĄ Somewhere it suddenly started feeling like as long as you want someone for yourself, you are a born evil person. đĄ đĄ đĄ
The heartbreak she felt at Aniâs betrayal and the way she reacted - it was all natural. In fact, I personally felt sorry at the scene when Ani fell unconscious and she immediately came out of her room. đ„ș
But after that the way they have made her obsessed with her beauty and the dialogues they have written for her - disgusting is an understatement. And now with her plotting against Boni makes her despicable. Why was it necessary to paint Mini as pitch black? đĄ đĄ đĄ
Coming to Anirudhâs character, I have the same issues. On the surface he is a really good person and I donât disagree. But he has fundamental flaws in his traits. He is someone who behaves rashly and expects the others to accept those decisions. He did what he had to do to save Bondita but somewhere along the line I could not help but ask myself the question how fair was it to Saudamini? If she werenât her fiancĂ© but his wife, would he still get the sympathy he is getting now? The way he expected Mini to listen to his words - wasnât it too idiotic on his part?
A relationship is an equal partnership. Without complete understanding you canât be a good partner. If Mini was a bad partner for him because she wasnât as generous as him, then I felt he was even worse as a partner who didnât give a crap about her feelings, kept stalling the confession when he was well aware about her feelings and kept going on and on about his planning which didnât include her.
Somewhere I felt him like Apurba from Tagoreâs short story HOIMONTI where Apurba himself confessed he didnât have to sacrifice anything. His life was complete. So suddenly when he noticed Hoimontiâs loneliness, he couldnât understand how to help her.
Here Anirudh had his fatherâs money, received the best education and had a girl who was madly in love with him. So one incident and he went on a journey to initiate a change. But he didnât think once for all those people who completed his life. đđŒ đđŒ đđŒ
I found him to be a worse partner than Mini. Even now, when he is trying to help Boni in his own way, he is mostly imposing his decisions upon the little girl.
I really wish, the makers hadnât chosen this route. Neither for Anirudh nor for Saudamini. A young guy fighting for his kid wife would be amazing anyway without a third angle who got butchered without any reason. And the young guy is written in such a way that apart from his one act of saving a little girl, all other decisions speak highly of his volatile nature - definitely not suitable for a leader or someone who wants change in the society.

and no better than Aurra to portray her
Just giving my view on it.
