Laila Majnu as a movie, I enjoyed the most in last hour or so. The first half to be honest was a bit underbaked to me. The same.. guy stalking girl, girl refusing at first but then falling for the same guy.. I wish their love story was more properly developed, so that when Majnu finally descends in madness, we can feel for them.. but we are not shown when exactly did they fall so deeply for each other. That is the weakest point. But Avinash's performance as Majnu is what made the movie memorable to me. U can clearly see with his shift in expressions when he actually started going mad. It was not just Laila for him.. but the idea of being in love..[SPOILER] That one scene and dialogue was very powerful when he is hallucinating Laila and talking to her and while in that trance mistakenly disturbs the people offering namaz. He asks "Why did you hit me? Agreed that I was talking to my lover.. I was in love and completely lost and thats why I couldnt see you, but you too were talking to your love, then how come you saw me? Did I say anything to you then?"

Thats how pure his love had become. The movie was too good in the second half but first half could have been much better.

Agreed with everything you said, esp the part in bold.

The movie being 'Laila Majnu' which is supposed to be really intense didn't bring out their chemistry well enough. The spark was there but I wanted to see more, I wanted to know what is it about her that caused him to become crazy & what about him that caused her to die as well esp since the film kinda highlighted in the beginning that they were both flirts.

IMO Bulbbul did a much better job at bringing out their chemistry (even though there were no romantic scenes between them)..

Both of them have immense potential.

Yeah, it's good but don't know what his character would be as I guess the movie has Aditi Rao and Kirti Kulhari too. So, it might be a female centric with all the girls in focus. Don't know what's the scope of his character. Let's see. It's exciting though. ♥

Same, I don't fully know his role because I've not seen the original. He might be playing a husband or boyfriend character. Either way, it's good to see him in more movies.

He isn't the Hritik Roshan kinda handsome but he's so charming and brilliant, I couldn't believe it was the same guy from Bulbul. Also, his voice is next level manly, like pure manhood.

I have read the book.. I think the character that he is playing will be very pivotal but not sure how much screen space he will get coz the story mostly revolves around Parineeti's character and her interaction with others. Is any other male actor confirmed for this movie?

Good to see him in mainstream movies, but the book was quite predictable. Hope they make the movie more interesting..

I've read the book. I'm sure you are thinking what I am thinking. Yes, if he plays that character, it's indeed pivotal to the larger scheme of things. I liked the book more than the movie, though, the English one at least.

He sounds like Ranveer lol

I personally melt over Sidharths voice, baritone galore

True.. their chemistry was very much evident in this one song.. The way he looks at her...

But after that there wasnt much build up to their marne maarne wala romance.. It was pretty cliche.. phone pe do baatein, ek mulaqat aur pyaar ho gaya.. She dying for him, I can still understand.. she had seen how much he loved her and how much he was affected by their love/separation.. But for him to go that level of crazy.. I couldn't understand.

In the original laila majnu tale, Laila was very beautiful and it was love at first sight for Majnu. He wrote poetries for her. Maybe that didnt come across here since he was described as a flirt anyway..

I do think that what you are thinking is what I am thinking 😆

He can definitely pull that character well.. But the movie itself was flop right? I dont know why Bollywood picks up Hollywood movies for remake which are already flop there.. Yeh aisa kya alag bana lenge..
