I guess this is the most racist Bollywood song ever. So wrong on every level with the black face and the squint eyes. Also feel ashamed now that at one point I actually used to like this song because of the way Sridevi enacted. But this is so wrong! 🤢

African Americans do not exists in India historically. There are some inhabitants of African slaves in some parts of India, but they have all the rights which an Indian citizen possess. India does not have a history of black slavery, lynching and segregation.

Blackface is so common in India, people don't even see it as wrong.. and the kind of mental gymnastics they play to try and prove there is no racism in India because they don't see racist behaviour as wrong...

It's interesting that you say the African slave inhabitants have the same right as "an Indian citizen", are they not an Indian citizen then? Genuine question as I don't know a whole lot about it. Only know of the Siddis and there is surely racism against them. You could've just said all Indian citizen, even the ones of African descent have the same right.

India doesn't have a similar history with African slavery but doesn't mean there isn't racism. There are lots of Africans who visit India, study there or go for jobs who are victims of racism. So no not the same history of racism, but India definitely has racism like most parts of the world.
