Why South industry is still better despite existing nepotism? - Page 10

South industry gives more importance to the quality of the movie rather than the stardom itself; although if a famous star kid is launched in a grand manner, and the movie sucks,then its pretty much over for him.

Tamil- nepotism started in the 80s itself with Sivaji Ganesan's son Prabhu. In the 90s lots of producer/director/star kids were introduced eg Vijay, surya, prashant. Vijay's popularity was only average in the beginning while surya was nearly written off in his first few movies. Only when he improved his acting,audience started to accept him. Same goes for Dhanush. He was heavily criticised in his first movie and had to prove himself with his acting. Nepo kids like Vijay, surya, Dhanush have now reached a point where people forget that they r insiders.

Unlike bollywood, tamil audience glorify outsiders like sivakarthikeyan, vijay sethupathi, ajith etc because their struggle to achieve success in the field resonates well with the audience.

There are tonnes of star kids who failed miserably despite having a strong background. Eg, Shanthanu Bagyaraj, rajinikanth's daughters directorial ventures.

Telugu- bollywood and telugu industries are highly similar. Anyone that has a name of akkineni, daggubati, allu etc will be introduced lol. Howevrr just like bolly only a handful of them r talented. Naga chaitanya imo isn't great so is mahesh babu. The worst of the lot is Nagarjuna's other son Akhil. But the craze amongst the telugu audience allows these Nepo kids to survive.

OK nepotism exists everywhere even in south

But many top actors were outside industry ones before till one gen back

Like Rajnikanth, kamal hassan, dhanush, ajith etc in tamil

Like mamoty and mohanlal in kerala

Like vishnuvardhan and yash in kannada

and like chiranjeevi, anushka shetty, siddarth in telugu

but todays gen most are related to someone

The thing about south is many who have become actors with a film background also are good actors mostly like a prabhas in telugu, sudeep in kannada both are from film family but both are very good actors especially sudeep hes multi talented like hes director, actor, writer etc. Both sudeep and prabhas have done BE engineering degree its not like they are school passed or failed and joined industry unlike many bollywood hero/heroines. Its also not like south will just accept any mediocre just because he is hero/heroines/dircetor/producers son etc. Only very talented remain after few years actually. Like Shivaji ganesan son did not become a big star, rajnikant daughters never entered industry, NTRs sons are actors but bala krishna only became super star all others not so big. Now this gen its nepo kids ruling but yet outsiders are allowed and give competition too to become no. 1. Like yash hes a bus driver son(KGF movie), ajith was a mechanic bef becoming hero in tamil, dhanush again non film back ground, nivin pauly of malyalam worked at infosys bef becoming actor etc. ravi teja and nani both non film backgrounds in telugu are super stars. So its not like only film back ground become super stars in south

But in hindi majority actors are very bad and they come from film families so the nepotism gets highlighted

And best part about south is the music non film back ground and melody exists and lyrics is ok and better atleast was till 2010 or 2015 or so without much nonsense lyrics. Music directors are from non film backgrounds and so are singers mostly so good voices and better music is there. And writers and directors are also mostly outsiders. In south no actor will dictate to director or writer like how happens in bollywood. That is changing now in past 5-8 years but still 50% are independent like a rajamouli etc Even super stars will obey directors in south and not over rule them and come on time to set no show offs like bollywood heroes. Heroines also have good roles in many movies not prop only except some super star movies. Heroine oriented movie more in south than bollywood. You must have heard of anushka shetty, malashree, trisha, amla paul, soundarya etc got more remuneration than heroes only and acted in heroine backed roles that would earn more or equal to top heroes in south (profits). I think 1990s and till 2005-2010 was golden age for heroine roles in south now again its coming back with many heroines.

I don't know about other industries but I can speak for tollywood. Yes it's completely nepo dominated but except for few (ram Charan, nag chaitanya) others had to prove to become the stars they are

Mahesh babu - yes he is a superstar son but do you know his brother debuted in 90's andaru was complete flop? Mahesh got his big debute but he did struggle to find his feet..Olympia after okkadu he could cement his fanbase

Allu arjun - I really dislike his face..I mean if you are any outsider you won't even make it to gate but now ones cared when he debuted because he is a producer son but he is very lucky to get aarya as his second film...there is not looking back where as his brother its a complete flop..his dad tried to get trendy directors for his last son but it dint work..now I'm don't think he has any movies

Prabhas -he is nephew of some actor but no one cares for him only after varsham he gained popularity but before that no one cared for him.

Jr NTR- Complete nepo product but do you know how many members got his family tried to debut and flopped completely? Ntr was not even welcomed in the family till recently only after giving blockbusters he was acknowledged by his dad ( he is the son of second wife) even his step bother could not make it in movies or his cousins who are all legitimate sons and debuted with fanfare but did not even last after two films. He sucess is completely his. He debuted in a children film which was a huge hit. His inky advantage was being compared to his grandfather which made-to-order people curious.

Yes people into south have nepo but if they are rejected they are rejected..they won't be pushed down the throats.

After getting opportunity it's in your hands if you are going to make it or break it
