Karna would have been around 5-8 years elder to him . minimum if Yudi was elder to him, and definitely before the DronAshram he didn't matter much to him, maybe a loyal guard/servant or at max a confidant.

I think Duryodhan actually got an elder brother replacement in Karna. Unlike Dusshashan he advised him when needed without being judgemental (something Kuru elders might have done to him like every family elder), would become a close confidant when needed and definitely gave his 100% loyalty and unconditional support to him (at least till then).

In fact if you see texts Karna is the only one in Chandal Chaukdi whose advise he follows. He is the only one who sometimes openly condemns his plans(not as they are unethical like TV shows have but as they are stupid) Would it be possible for some one who was just a second in command for him?

They literally resonated each other's thoughts, as seen multiple times

This kind of relationship building does take time and trust which somehow developed among them. There could be no other reason that Duryodhan didn't even ask Karna about his betrayal at the Gowsha Yatra.

He was the Yuvaraj of a powerful kingdom, good body build up, okayish warrior, koi usko kyu nhi Pasand Karti thi, at least Kalinga princess should have done, chhota sa state to tha uska

I think he was very bad in looks, can't think of any other reason. Even Bheeshm didn't arrange for princess for him Iike he did for Vichitraveer, Pandu n Dhritrashtra

It is therefore definitely not that he wanted yes men in his group, Ashwathama not being so would have had no affect in this regard

Anyhow Ashwathama Pandavas friendship is never mentioned, so that I don't think has any rationale

Duryodhan just liked Karna much more than Ashwathama, nothing to do with him beinf a good man

Drona & drupad did mend their relationship 4 short time span coz even drishtdumya was drona's students.

Ashwatthama is not blind followers of duryodhana , he turned blind in anger only after drona's death.

Ashwathama was definitely not a negative person, never did I say he was, but his not being negative has nothing to do with him not being as close to Duryodhan as Karna. He was a great man no doubt but that doesn't mean that he can't feel Duryodhan to be a close friend.

As I said earlier none in Dury's innermost circle were blind followers except maybe Dusshashan.

Drona Drupad mend relation I doubt since Drupad got Dhristhdhyum to kill Drona, and so got him trained under Drona
