Karna would have been around 5-8 years elder to him . minimum if Yudi was elder to him, and definitely before the DronAshram he didn't matter much to him, maybe a loyal guard/servant or at max a confidant.

I think Duryodhan actually got an elder brother replacement in Karna. Unlike Dusshashan he advised him when needed without being judgemental (something Kuru elders might have done to him like every family elder), would become a close confidant when needed and definitely gave his 100% loyalty and unconditional support to him (at least till then).

In fact if you see texts Karna is the only one in Chandal Chaukdi whose advise he follows. He is the only one who sometimes openly condemns his plans(not as they are unethical like TV shows have but as they are stupid) Would it be possible for some one who was just a second in command for him?

They literally resonated each other's thoughts, as seen multiple times

This kind of relationship building does take time and trust which somehow developed among them. There could be no other reason that Duryodhan didn't even ask Karna about his betrayal at the Gowsha Yatra.

There are very few things i like about Karna but him being a lovely friend is one of them.

However I wish he would have advised Duryodhan against his ill deeds. Had he not been this bad during dicehall i would have had way more respect for him

My character analysis of him tell me he really didn't care about the throne for which he had to give up his most important title. I think he could not care less whether it was Duryodhan or Yudhishthir. He keeps disliking both sides but when needed he speaks for both sides trying to be diplomatic IMO

During the Pandavas exile, he selected Karna to lead the Digvijay over Drona and Bheeshm. Even if you take Digvijay as an interpolation, yet Karna was the one to defeat many top states back then. This would have yielded no result to Duryodhan, in fact there was a risk of the elders getting angry, but he did that. I think Duryodhan wanted to make Karna the second in command to himself even in Hastinapur politics (after having returned him his family kingdom of Anga)

P.S. had Duryodhan won the war on day 17, do you think Karna would have been able to convince Dury to adopt one of his sons for throne since Lakshman was dead?

One thing guys before you think of friendships. Karna was 12 to 15 years older than Dury when he met him.

Kunti had Karna as soon as her puberty started around 11 or 12. And she had Yudhishtir after a delayed marriage + Pandu impotency + atleast a year or more of forest living. Bhim and Dury were born 2 years after that.

Infact I am very sure that since Shakuni was the youngest son of Suvala , he and Karna were around the same age 20 years old to a 8 year old Duryodhan.

Karna and shakuni were two adults managing and manipulating a boy. Since Shakuni couldnt enter gurukul as he must have already completed education in Gandhar. Karna did because he must not have had formal education in Anga. He was an adult Vidyarthi, learning amongst boys.

Also Ashwatthama and Susharma were someone closer to Dury age whom he only met in gurukul.

By the time everyone grew up, Karna had completely established himself in Dury's psyche. He had moved on from the position of a bodyguard to a henchman to a confidant to a friend. It was much easier for him than any guy who was the same age as Dury.

Because he started much earlier as Dury met Susharma Ashwatthama and even satyaki in gurukul, but Karna met him.atleast two to three years before

plus he was an adult doing the manipulation, while others were just boys near the same age with not enough experience of being around people and managing them

Drona trained not just Kaouravas and Pandavas and his son. He trained the army of Hastinapur, the princes of Vassals and allies too.

All the vrishni yadava were there So Satyaki, Krishna's brother Gada. Bhurishravas from Bahlika Susharma from Trigarta and Karna from anga were there, most like shalya sons also as gandhar princes

I think post lakshagriha even dhrishtadyumn for a very short period.

But enemies of hastinappur were refused even if asked for like anybody from jarasandh side like shishupal eklavya paundraka rukmi vinda anu vinda etc

I didn't know that Trigatha was an old ally to Hastinapur. I felt they became so later due to Shusharma-Duryodhan friendship

I so much like their friendship, and hope that someone explores this relationship, but unfortunately no showmaker ever does that. Aside we don't know much about Shusharma either.

In fact BRC had Duryodhan using Shusharma by the former making fake promises to convince the latter to help him in his Adharma. Duryodhan was actually shown mocking Shusharma at his back twice once to Dusshashan and once to Karna.

I mean come on if some is ready to sacrifice not just the life but also his Dharma for a friend then the other friend must be equally dedicated to him, such deep bonds are never unidirectional.

Undoubtedly Duryodhan was a great friend, but just because he is the hero, his personal beautiful relations are never respected/highlighted

Yes I read Dhristhdhyum was also a student of Dron. But he didn't get training along with Kuru princes
