He was friend of both kaurav & pandav , why will he conspire against pandavas specially arjun who made him king. He was neutral.

Bhishma kidnapped amba, ambalika, Ambika and then ambalika, Ambika instantly became widows while we know the story with Amba. Gandhari came and blindfolded herself. Pandu went for exile and later one of his wife became widow and the other died . Draupadi got divided. That is one controversial family.

If I existed in that time I would have seriously judged the entire family and would never send any women of my family to hastinapur.

Coming to the topic I think people preferred pandavas because of their glory and indraprastha was also a very prosperous Kingdom.

that is because it is Arjun POV. Is there anything in the epic to prove Arjun and Ashwathama were friends.

This is a very wrong notion

Had that been the case then Duryodhan was not stupid to have not understood by the time of the war that he was no match for Arjun, he would have side tracked Karna then but he didn't.

When he became the Yuvaraj, Pandavas were thought that be dead, Karna was no longer needed to counter Arjun now, Karna should have lost his significance if he was only a weapon/counter to Arjun, but he remained Duryodhan's closest friend

And finally during Bheeshm Parva, Karna rejected to fight under Bheeshm, forget someone using, even unconditional friends would have issues with a bff who after having pestered and constantly provoking one for the war, suddenly back out at the last moment. But Dury respected his decision and agreed for it

Nothing shows that there was any selfishness in his friendship and there are multiple proofs otherwise

Just because Duryodhan was a villian doesn't mean he can't have one good quality. He was a good friend not only to Karna but also to Shusharma, else the latter wouldn't have been ready to sacrifice his life for Dury's sake

Coz of drona , as he was siding kauravs why will ashwatthama go against his father , ashwatthama kept his father at his first priority so was drona.

Hastinapur was Better than Indraprasth. In fact Indraprasth was filled with robbers and Nagas+Danavs it was a barren land

Pandavas made it beautiful in years and by the time it was actually beautiful game of dice happened and everything went to Dury
