There was a story behind selection of Kurukshetra. I don't know whether it's true or not. Pandavas ancestor, Kuru sowed the place with his flesh as seeds and blood as water so God gave him the boon that whoever dies at that place in a war, will be directly sent to heaven.

The Mayan calendar was supposed to end in 2012, but now they came up with a new date stating that the last one was wrong

The Muslims come up with one date for Kayamath every century
