Why did Jagga Jasoos flop?

Caught the movie finally and LOVED it.

I was expecting something boring and trashy, but the movie was pure cinematic genius. Ranbir was not at the best phase of his career, but he rocked it. Kat was OK, but her role didn't require that much acting and she was fine for it.

Things which I thought were pros:

1. Filmed gorgeously

2. Lovely songs-- well-pictured and melodious

3. Memorable madcap moments

4. Ambitious storytelling

5.Ranbir's acting

Cons:

1. Too many ingredients spoil the broth is the only one I could think of. There were just too many underlying messages and subtext.

2. Could have been edited better

3. Was sold as a film for children (that's what I thought initially and didn't watch in the theatre) whereas actually it is more for adults

Why do you think it flopped when Barfi was such a big hit? Both movies are in the same genre.

It was a bit slow and had too many things going on, editing was messy, but I loved the film. Anurag made the film from heart and it showed.

It was soo boring, I couldn't sit through it and thought of walking out of the theater during interval. But then my dad was like let's finish it when we have come to the theater.

Maybe it was for some kind of classy audience, went over my head completely.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I watched it today online and liked it a lot. But I agree it's a very unpredictable film. Ambitious and all, but sometimes the parts don't add up that well. Could have been edited better, to make it more crisp and concise.

It was a kids movie. If it was Hollywood kids would/should have been cast. It needed little kids

Watched it fdfs and enjoyed. It was a well made movie but bwood movies which mainly focused on kids tend not to do well in India. Same with flying jatt.

I really loved the movie. I understand why it didn't work though. I don't think bollywood has the right audience for this type of film. It still has such a long way to go when it comes to genres.
