Ranbir's acting skills overshadows his stardom?

Ranbir is one of the finest actors we have today. But what intrigues me is that people are not willing to give him the tag of a 'superstar'. This, despite the fact that he has seen the highest of peaks unlike anyone else of his generation.

The funny part is, even Besharam opened at 20 crores way back in 2013. To give you guys some perspective, that's a higher opening than Ranveer's biggest hit Padmavat.

Even BOI published a rather reluctant article on Ranbir Kapoor's stardom. I say reluctant because if you read between the lines, they are even saying stupid things like 'The mega stardom will never come from a biopic though as the actor is unable to leave his stamp on the character like a Shahrukh Khan did in DDLJ or Salman Khan in Dabangg.' But all that aside, they do acknowledge his box-office pull.

Do you think that he's a fine actor often take away from his stardom?

No his stardom was sealed that day the first day was cancelled of Bombay velvet. There will always be a stigma.

I honestly do not think of him as that great an actor, and I really do not understand people rating him as one of the best actors. Like, people on KWK have rated him above Aamir!

He has a name that is enough to carry him through his journey, and no, he isn't a superstar.

There is a certain charm to him on the screen, though. I'll give him that.

How many posts do you need to create about the same topic, Minty? Don’t complain about the lack of comments next time!!

He is a good actor (better than Salman, Akshay, SRK) but no better than a Hrithik, Aamir or even Ranveer. I’ve never found him super charismatic on or off screen - charming, for sure. But that’s not enough. So you have your answer Minty - he is “good” at both but not outstanding so no, one will never be overshadowed by the other. We all know why he and his dear cousin were marketed as the next superstars that never happened a few years ago: KAPOOR!

Overshadow se yaad aaya, what worked against Jr. B, worked for Kaka. Big B's persona and fame used to oveshadow Jr. B's presence, but Chintu's rudeness and horrible persona used to give Kaka sympathy. Now Chintu is no more, it would be hard hard game for Kaka from now on.

Lol Salman has given back to back hatrick of flops, and many shows of those films were also cancelled...infact Tubelight came at his peak yet shows were cancelled. No one, no star is bigger then their films..all superstars have given biggest of flops..flops dont define their stardom, hits do..Ranbir is no different.

I was answering TM as to why RK is known more As good actor than big star. An it’s cause he’s low on the totem pole. They did a list of top stars from 2010-2019 RK was like 7 and Salman was 1

In 2013 he was on cusp for sure but His stardom isn’t doing well as last few years apart from Sanju. An that’s not me being mean that’s literally just what is happening. 20/30 Crore Failures and long gaps have hurt him. Salman is giving 100 Crore films.
