Upanishad Ganga (DD national)

I feel so blessed to have been stumbled upon this one❤️ Explains the beautiful concepts of Upanishad in a very lucid manner. I'm glad they show it with English subtitles otherwise the heavy Hindi would have been difficult to understand.

I'm loving it. The wisdom of Upanishads, the stories have somehow also lessened my anxiety during these difficult times.

Recommend it for all those who are eager to learn about or are interested in Upanishads.

Why are you disgusted by it?

Throughout the series there is this persistent thought process that liberals (yes they've name called liberals) are responsible for e.g. destroying marriages; and most importantly it portrays a husband on a pedestal. Just one example I remember: The good mom advises her good daughter to do khhidmat of husband, do all his chores by her own very hands instead of using the househelp. Seriously? There were so many such face-palm moments. And this series was released in 2012, so same generation. Or maybe such values are considered normal in Pakistan - this was the first Pakistani production I've seen.

Must say, I loved the writing, character development, acting was good in parts. And yes, they didn't show any abuse or violence against women. Its a clean show with no vulgarity, no violence and absolutely no bull$hit.

Oh yeah..

There were some regressive dialogues every now and then. Also a normal top and jeans were considered indecent in one of the scenes.

You should check out a drama called Choti Choti baatain. It's a great show, an attempt to address some of these regressive thinking prevalent in our subcontinent society. Each story lasts for 3-4 episodes.

Jawaani Janeman: Was disappointed. One time watch. Didn't find Alia F as good as the hype: she acts well but lacks the looks to be a heroine. Tabu has been wasted. Saif was his usual good.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai (series): Gave it a try and was hooked! But never have I been as fascinated and disgusted at the same time by any piece of art. It almost feels like propaganda against liberals. 😡

Not exactly disgusted but I was pretty divided about the show...A part of me loved it and a part of me found a lot of the material(including the Hero’s perspective about women) quite problematic....On one hand I found the Heroine’s mom very inspiring and on the other hand the same lady was the source of a lot of my frustration with the kind of stuff she preaches to her daughter...😳

If you are interested in Pakistani Drama, some of my unsolicited recommendations would be: Yakeen Ka Safar(highly recommended), Udaari, and if you like melodrama and a run of the mill kind of love story but a well made drama- then go for Mann Mayal....:)

My reactions were strong because it almost looked like a trojan horse to impregnate conservative ideas. The characters were portrayed in a positive light, and mostly stayed within their limits and acted reasonably. Which is dangerous because that behavior can start looking normal, and those thoughts ideal!

Thank you so much, yes I am! 🤗

Hello Everyone! I am back with new movie suggestion for you which you can watch in your boring time. Recently I watched the Ghoomketu Hindi movie online on ZEE5, I like this movie hope you will also like it.

An aspiring Bollywood screenwriter from Uttar Pradesh runs away from home and reaches Mumbai, only to find out the real worth of his stories. He has only 30 days to prove his mettle, otherwise he will have to return to his village where his perennially angry father is waiting for him.

In Ghoomketu (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), we meet a nearly failed but jovial writer, who likes to keep a book titled ‘How To Be A Bollywood Writer In 30 Days’ with him. His family loves to laugh, mostly on its patriarch Dadda (Raghuvir Yadav), who keeps getting bouts of anger. Yadav, with his typical middle-class traits, is a treat to watch. It’s difficult to not laugh everytime he erupts in anger.

Rewatching Stree. It is honestly one of the best films I've ever seen and I watch a lot of films not just in bollywood. Dunno why but this movie is enchanting to me. It's just perfect and has everything. <3

Watching Korean Drams:

Master's Sun:

Super underrated drama really liking

1% of something:

Enjoying the story. Hero is too possessive types that bothers me. But bearable

Watched Korean Drama:

Goblin: Left it mid-way, Over-hyped. The heroine was too irritating. Story was dragging

Pakistani Drama:

Aun-Zara: Heard its a nice comedy. But racist dialogues agains dark people put me off so much that I abandoned the drama

Durr-e-shawar: Again super-patriarchal but the acting of the lead cast was good so could watch it

Sonam Kapoor gets endlessly dissed on this forum—sometimes for her acting, sometimes just for existing in that air of fashion-girl nonchalance....
