It's the truth. Bollywood movies have come to signify mindless entertainment.

It can't simply be because audience wants to forget problems for 2 to 3 hours. Those who watch Bengali, Marathi, Malayalam movies are also Indians with similar problems. There's a good mix of potboilers and actual cinema coming out of the regional industries, both genres earning money. Many actors have a foot each planted on each side, like Saif tried to do with HIS potboilers and serious cinema.

Why this can't be true for Bollywood is what I don't get. Aren't these the same people watching both Bollywood and regional language cinema?

Or has it come to a point the mindless entertainment tag has stuck, and even cine lovers go for Bollywood movies with that expectation in mind?
