All his movies like Page 3 Corporate are a true reflection of the times and very realistic.... Though woman centric, his films always impart a simple message towards the end ...And most importantly the pathos in the film are never gruesome or overdone ... They are handled subtly and maturely..

If you liked Bonus, you most probably will enjoy another simple movie Bhetali Tu Punha. It is comparatively a bit more filmy than Bonus but enjoyable nevertheless. The Vaibhav-Pooja combo is as charming as the Gashmeer-Pooja combo.

Waadi in arebic means a riverbed ( mostly dry throughout the year ) .

the word is used in hindi in the same meaning. ( waadiyaan mera daaman song from Abhilasha)

Marathi "wadi" has complete different meaning & belongs to a differnt family of words. " wada", " Waadvadil" , "Vadiloparjit " etc.

I have a book by Late V K Rajwade, somewhere in my collection. . Once I find it , I shall be able to give the etymology.

The synonym for arabic" waadi" in marathi will be

" Khore". Like krishna khore etc.

English " Vally " means the river & its watershade area.

What a beautiful film Bonus is.... Thanks to the recommendations here I too catched up the film right now.... Everyone is so beautifully cast... Nothing cliched.... Gashmeer looks and acts really good... Pooja was very sober.... A feel good movie.... Loved it...

I beg to differ on this. वडिलोपार्जित refers only to ancestors property. वाडवडील is similar to it. वाडी is generally spoken in coastal region like konkan and Mumbai and वाडा refers to bungalow or big house jointly held by 2-3 closely held families. In konkan if you buy a house with garden and adjecent agricultural land with productive trees like coconut etc then it is called वाडी. Same case with Mumbai earlier. Now no one can afford to buy a vaadi in Mumbai. So this vaadi somewhere resonates with Arabic meaning. IMHO. The exactly same meaning is explained by the person in that video.
