I used to pronounce Zee as जी and Zoya as जोया but actually it's ज़ी and ज़ोया
You mean you used to pronounce Zee as Jee and Zoya as Joya ? .. And then you corrected it .. Question is - why did you pronounce those words as Jee and Joya in the first place ? ..
Again - regional pronounciation plays a big role here .. a girl -Zoya born and brought up in a region which pronounces Zee TV as Jee TV , would be named Joya from the get go .. Doesn't mean her parents and her got her name wrong .. She is Joya ..
Urdu is such a beautiful language, sigh. Hindi sounds so plain in comparison.

Don't know. Many people here pronounce it like this only. Sabka apna apna pronunciation hota hai. Log M ko yam aur N ko yan bolte hain, fool and phool ko bhi same. Not only Urdu but in Hindi स and श are pronounced same by many. Main thing is ek doosre ko samajh aana chahiye. Rest doesn't matter.
No its not...the pronunciation excuse can be given for English ...because English is a weird language in the first place but Hindi and Urdu both are pronounced exactly the way they are written...no room for imagination in Hindi/Urdu...so no excuses apply😆..I am sure that the other Indian languages that are based on the Devnagri lipi also cannot be pronounced any differently than how they are written but since I don't know them , I can't say for sure...English language has that luxury where we can pronounce a name whatever way we want but not Hindi/Urdu.
and before someone jumps on me and says that I am glorifying Hindi/Urdu....no I am not...I do not care for any language....not even my mother tongue Hindi...all I am saying is that the TM is right....There are no two ways of pronouncing words in Hindi/Urdu...that pronunciation doesn't matter in day to day life..I agree with that....as long as you understand what the other person is saying...who cares....but when a language is used for the art of writing lyrics or singing...the pronunciation should be correct....art and day to day life are different...the former needs perfection...the latter...well all of us are imperfect...so who cares..as long as u get the meaning..😆
Not a Urdu question
But is it pronounced Phir or Fir ? I always hear both and get confused

It's phir. If you know Devnagari it's very easy. Phir is written as फिर (phir) and not फ़िर (fir).
Hindi is supposed to be pronounced exactly as written. Of course, you can do anything. 😊

It's supposed to be Phool (फूल) and not Fool (फ़ूल).
Similarly correct pronunciation for fruit is Phal (फल) whereas Fal (फ़ल) is actually wrong.
All you have to do is look at the spelling in Devanagari. 👍🏼
Better example of Udit botching. I'm pretty sure he's mispronouncing khushboo. 😊
Yes he is mispronouncing it. My self I mispronounced my name too 😆 give an example of correct one.. and what about Jagjit Singh.. how is his Urdu pronunciation...
Can you share if this one is correct..
Listen from 1.41 onwards

I consider them the same! 😊
You use Sanskrit words in "Urdu" and you use Arabic and Persian words in "Hindi". The distinction between them is very subjective.
