No. You can still show characters like Kantaben in movies. Because homophobic people do exist in real life and they should be portrayed too. But in the film, it was merely used for comic sequences and Kantaben's reactions were meant to describe the homophobic reaction of the society. So to use such plots to perpetuate such stereotypes is dangerous and should be avoided.

PS. Even I enjoyed this comedy when I watched it back in the day. But I can't enjoy it anymore now that I know better.

Are jokes like that poking fun at pandemics is that also a form of political incorrectness?

I am not advocating for political correctness.

One can poke fun at anything as long as it doesn't have real-life negative consequences for anyone, especially the marginalized communities. I believe one should always punch up (ie, those who are powerful), but never punch down (those who are already feeble and need upliftment).

I have few questions.

A lot of people tell me that gay and lesbian are 2 males or females in a relationship, but in reality, I feel one of them in the relationship is a female stuck in a male body and vice versa. They act very feminine and soft, is that natural or they putting up an act, im not sure? So gays are not two males, but they are one male with another female stuck in a male body? In another word what they actually want is a female but with a male private parts and vice versa? Right?

The only thing is that the feminine guy in the relationship, he talks, he walks like a woman but to what extent he wants to be a woman is not very clear, does he also wants to dressed up like a woman? Does he wish to get rid of his private parts then the question remains what will happen to the other guy in the relationship who wants that male private part? If he can accept a male who turn into a female then what problem he has in accepting someone who is born a female. ? Is there something wrong with natural born female or male? What is the difference?

Sorry if I sound confused but I am very confused.

I think the issue is universal. Not restricted to Bollywood or even India in general.

Given that this is BWF - yes, it used to be bad a decade ago wherein alternate sexuality was used for comical relief but it is getting better now. The digital platform has sensitized the younger generation towards such issues.

Not every one part of a gay relationship wants to be trans female. At all. They don't behave like 'females'/feminine either. That's a huge generalization. For those guys who indeed behave 'feminine'( even though that's lending to certain stereotypical tendencies as well cause the question remains what's masculine, what's feminine, when does one overlap),they every much like to be men with their own anatomy. They don't automatically want to have female parts. Attraction in gay men is because of the male parts. Attraction in lesbian relationships is because of the female parts. One could be as Butch as they want to be in lesbian relationship, that doesn't mean they want to be men.

Just like anatomy is primary source of attraction in in heterosexual people is a part,it's the same with homosexual people.

Not every homosexual half of a relationship wants to be trans.

No I meant, the exaggerated homosexuals. Although they aren't false, because I have seen homosexuals who act in exaggerated manner, like in Shillong there is. a place called Ward's Lake, few years back, the road on route to that lake used to be a hotbed of homosexuals during evening times when it would get dark, them groping and harassing men. Although after sometimes, due to increase of girls and women walking through that roads, had these homosexuals change their route. So women actually saved men from homosexuals.

But I do think their are many who are closet, and don't act like their sexuality is their existential identity. So as long as homosexuals are shown as horny molesters, those people will be afraid to come out. So obviously LGBTQ members aren't saint, sorry they aren't, but they are not the monster they are shown to be.

BTW went till the sixth episode of Pataal Lok, show is gripping, but the amount of liberandu and muslim victimization is letting down an otherwise decent show.

If you had to pick just one Bollywood movie as your all-time favorite, which one would it be? And what makes it so special for you?
