Shakuni wasn't playing. It was Duryodhan who was playing. Shakuni was just deployed to throw the dice

She had multiple times taunted Yudhishtir, HearMeRoar gave many examples but going by those days' standards she couldn't have just left Yudhishtir

But I came across something

Is Shakuni saying that Yudhishtira is older than him in age?

Also, Sakuni didn't ask him to stake his brothers, it was Yudhishtira's doing, Even Draupadi being staked wasn't a coercion but a suggestion, it's just now I am reading it and I see how Yudhishtira got away with everything

Did she ever taunt him in his face? I understand what and why she did taking the age and society in consideration, I can't support her in this but I do love her for everything she stands for

Shakuni only suggested (not even compelled) Yudhishtir to stake Draupadi at the end, prior to that Yudhishtir staked everyone by his own decision

But Shakuni was definitely elder to Yudhishtir, will have to check it

Someone who always condemned lies had to lie in the war which resulted in the death of his dearest teacher

I agree very less punishment with respect to what he did, but he wasn't let go free

Krishna ji only supported him I think because the alternate option of Duryodhan was worse

Had panchali outright accused yudhishtra right in the dice hall things would have been worse for and pandavas. Instead she used a different tactics and used her brains to combat the difficult situation. She was smart and not emotional fool. She does rips him apart later in vana parva.

Maybe unfair to Shakuni. But when the other side is trying to kill you, you're not looking to die fairly. At least, SHE wasn't. Panchali waa all about actions and consequences while the rest were about how best to save face.

Exactly she was smart. I love her presence of mind and the way she tackled the situation not only savef herself but also her husbands.

True that. She might have been an intelligent and politically sound lady, but she was also a human who loved her husband/s just because they did wrong to her doesn't mean that she would do bad to them

Actually this particular sequence highlights her intelligent and politically sound nature. Her presence of mind She does not let her emotion cloud her better sense of judgment. She does gives yudhishtra dearest piece of her mind latter. But at the time it was no time for blame game among themselves but rather the time was to work together for everyone.
