People don't realize that you don't have to be breath takingly beautiful to do well in a period piece, but it has all to do with body language and being more expressive. This is why Aish and Madhuri do so well in these b/c they are training dancers and have a certain grace with how they carry themselves.

Madhuri was so seductive as Chandramukhi--I can never image anyone if this generation pull that off. And Aish as Paro was the perfect combo of pride with vunerability.

It's tremendously hard to imagine a combo like this. I mean PC-Deepika were probs the last in the breed but even Deepika couldn't pull off Padmavati so really just PC.

Eh, Bollywood is moving away and away from the over the top drama with massive dance numbers and exaggerated emotions it used to be. This is why Aishwarya and Madhuri are panned in everything they do now a days. Their style doesn't fit now. Alia is a product of that shift. Even Bhansali himself has toned down. Deepika's characters are not a quarter as loud as Paro and Chandramukhi.

Well that’s with every generation. Even when I watch films from the 80’s or 90’s I cringe.

But what I’m saying is that we don’t have any actress who command this kind of aura and magic on the big screen. We’re stuck with pre teen unattractive buck teeth actresses who suck on the silver spoons the industry gives them

They lack the spark, magic and star quality that this scene has

This has to be one of the most legendary moments of Bollywood cinema for women. Just look at these two. Both looking gorgeous as ever. This has to be the most breathtaking scene ever. So much grace, ada and beauty...... and I personally think they both acted well. You can’t deny the electrifying presence and the way they own the camera and lure us in....
