Alia DeCould Never Do This

This has to be one of the most legendary moments of Bollywood cinema for women. Just look at these two. Both looking gorgeous as ever. This has to be the most breathtaking scene ever. So much grace, ada and beauty...... and I personally think they both acted well. You can’t deny the electrifying presence and the way they own the camera and lure us in....

See this is what Alia lacks. She can’t bring this kind of impact on the big screen.... she could never pull this off .... look how womanly Ash and Madhuri look. This is what our actresses should look like .... and not look like a malnourished flat chested nostril flaring version of Karan Jauhar

No I don't believe that every actress should look like that. Only thing is if Alia or anyone takes up roles like the Kalank one, they should at least prep for it well, and not live in their own hype.

An actor doesn't need to be beautiful beyond words (which Madhuri isn't in any stretch btw), they should be captivating. And that captivation can be cultivated, we saw that with Amitabh Bachchan(who in early movies, while still a great actor used to lack that engagement).

So I am not really a fan of this notion of actresses have to be beautiful or dance great. Unless they do roles where they are shown as some great beauties of past or great dancers. . Alia failed in Kalank, it is because she didn't do her preparation well in terms of Kathak and acting like someone in 1940s who was involved in a weird quadruple situation.

she lived in her own bubble, probably with Kjo and his sycophants calling every average work of her great.

And it was not because she doesn't look as beautiful as Aish.

This is the entertainment industry. It’s all about looks and the desire. You can deny it all you want but it’s the truth. You wouldn’t be drooling over certain stars then if that was the case

If you want “acting” then go to theatre plays..... this is a visual industry

May be thats why bollywood is going down and regional industries scoring.. people are obsessed with visual appeal only..content, talent, originality, relatability, freshness.. who cares about all that..humein bas goodlooks,item songs, sex appeal, Ada yada vada yeh sab hi chahiye.

Eh, Bollywood is moving away and away from the over the top drama with massive dance numbers and exaggerated emotions it used to be. This is why Aishwarya and Madhuri are panned in everything they do now a days. Their style doesn't fit now. Alia is a product of that shift. Even Bhansali himself has toned down. Deepika's characters are not a quarter as loud as Paro and Chandramukhi.

Its not about the looks. Its about the ability to play a character and be convincing. You dont need to be amazing looking to radiate screen presence, charm, or beauty. yes beauty.

The only thing that alia proved is that she lacks versatality. She needs roles to be curated so that she is presented in a good light. When it is, She is quite good.

Not in the way people desire most attractive actresses like katrina, Disha, Deepika, Priyanka..

Alia is not percieved as a looker, but she is desired as an actress/performer if thats what you mean

Madhuri and Aishwarya looked so good in their primes. That prime lasted for 2 decades or more even. People grew up admiring their beauty and grace. But you have to agree they weren't the best actors in their time. They never were. But Bhansali and some other directors knew how to get their best out of them. Bhansali's movies rely a lot on beauty and grandeur. So someone who is an averagely pretty, modern looking girl like Alia will not suit such films. But no one is stopping her from becoming a good actor right? There are many other great directors who can give her good stuff to work on

Speaking about films like Kalank..

The thing is if deepika or someone was in the film, it probably would have fared better. Sonakshi and alia should have been swiched. Sonakshi was way more easy on the eyes and convincing and if she was the sole character, no lie I probably would have liked the film better. Alia should have been the side lead. But dharma had to force her in most of the scenes making the whole film about her causing it to be unbearable really.

If she remained the main lead, it needed to be better executed and alia should have took acting lessons.
