What Kunti went through was Niyoga. This is described when she conceives Karna, when she asks Suryadeva how she'll ever get married if she loses her virginity to him (implying that intercourse takes place). Suryadeva then assures her she'll regain her virginity after she gives birth to Karna. It probably wasn't the same type of intercourse as human intercourse, but something definitely happened lol.

No serial has shown this till now because apparently, it's a touchy subject in our culture. 😆

I personally feel Niyog is different from Sambhog (sex) else there was no need to have a different term for it.

Ambika and Ambalika bore Dhritrashtra and Pandu similarly through Niyog but that Niyog was with Her Vyas ji n not Devas.. But the Jain scriptures mention them only crossing him through a room naked (Ved Vyas ji is also naked inside)

Maybe just maybe it was some early kind of artificial insemination

Obviously no one knows what exactly Niyog meant and most experts do interpret it as normal process so no one will ever show this in Television

Niyog was simply a term describing a woman who had intercourse with anyone who wasn't her lawfully wedded husband. Majority of the time, it was typical human intercourse. This is especially true for Ambika and Ambalika, which is the reason the former closed her eyes and the latter turned pale in fear during the intercourse.

As for Kunti, I suppose people can believe what they're comfortable believing, but as per Vyasa, when Pandu told Kunti to have niyog with the rishis living nearby to beget children, she told him why rishis when the biological fathers could be Gods. Vyasa very much implies it's direct intercourse. Of course serials/movies won't show this, lol, so people have grown up thinking Kunti was simply handed a child in her arms each time. 😆 But this doesn't make sense because Kunti and Madri were biological mothers who carried and gave birth to their children, and that could only happen if pregnancies happened.

Yes it was early form of artificial inseminaton .what they called Niyog ... .it was cinematically shown in the he serial...

in case of Vyas Muni it was different ... it was having baby the normal way ..

Also the 100 Kauravas were not born normally like others ..they were born by tissue culture mentioned in some scriptures as unborn babies being tended in earthen pots under strict supervision by Rishies . Early form of tissue culture .

Are you saying Vyas Muni's birth was normal or the birth through Vyas muni?

@Janki the word Niyog has been used for Ambika Ambalika and Kunti Madri but not Parashar muni and Satyavati's relation. They didn't say that Satyavati had Vyas ji by Niyog (he used a decent word like Satyavati did Sewa of Parashar muni and as a blessing she bore Vyas. It's pretty clear what "Sewa" results in pregnancy. But then he was talking about his biological parents so couldn't have used the direct words) although Parashar muni wasn't the husband of Satyavati, so not every non marital child bearing process was called Niyog.

Niyog as a term has been used at very specific and limited places which is why I am of the opinion of these being artificial insemination.

You are right ...Parashar Muni took advantage of pretty young Satyavati while she was doing sewa n did not wish to annoy Parashar. There was consummation.

Pandavas were conceived thru artificial insemination .. so was Karna ..all had Devtas as their fathers .

Yes, Niyog was a form of artificial insemination, and the way the Kauravas were born...was a form of what we call today IVF, or "lab babies", where the embryo is created in a lab before being inserted into a woman's uterus, except in the case of Gandhari, the baby was created in her womb and then grown in Earthen pots lol.

Balarama's birth was a form of "surrogacy", with Devaki being the genetically biological mother and Rohini being the surrogate mother.
