This is another promo I never watched. This is about 2 lawyers fighting for opposite sides. This case looks so scandalous. Don't know how entire country would have reacted.

Surprised to see an article on this topic. The review is written in detail.Good effort .

Yes it was a case which became a controversy in our country.Though I knew about Rustom I did'nt know that there were 2 more movies on the same theme. One was made when the case was going on.Nice attempt. But yes..the movies tried to focus on one aspect for the commercial success. But nice to know that this web series showed the reality of the case...showed it exactly like it happened years back.I was surprised to know that even some dialogues were actually spoken in the court during the case.Another thing which I liked is the show is unbiased...even Prem was not bashed by anyone.Yes,whether the case is famous or controversial...it depends on each person's view. How it was compared to Rama Sita n Ravan was striking though I am not supporting it completely. It was interesting to know that this show brought out many unknown facts to the lime light. In all the other articles I read the actor I missed was Pooja Gor.I like her very much.So I am happy to see her name in the article.I was excited to read that she played a feminist who said that Sylvia had the right to decide with whom she wants to live.Unfortunately religion too played a role in this case.I agree that this show has an amazing cast.Though I have not seen it the trailer was enough 4 me to understand it.It was good to know that this show brought us back to past n made the viewers feel that they also belong to that period.

Such a detailed review on the web sites. It was nice reading it. Why a simple open and shut case ran for so long? What happened that it took 5 years to be closed? The husband was good that he tried to get her married to her lover but her lover instead refused which made him kill him. Which husband will do that? I wonder what all would have happened that the case tool so long? There were other characters which had good roles. What would have happened that the PM of that time had to stop the case?

I'm suprised to see such a detail review on the webseries The Verdict...Firstly I didnt know they were already two movies made on this India's most controversial case in the past but yes I'm aware about 2015 movie Rustom which totally showed only one side of coin and completely white washed the image of Kavas Nanavati as a hero and patriot but this webseries is different, I watch it when it was released in september...I love the fact that this webseries The Verdict show both sides of coin, both schools of thoughts and neither its try to defame Prem Ahuja as a ruthless lover nor it try to portrait Kavas Nanvati as a patriotic hero and family men...It is most unbiased version as compared to the movie Rustom, which is more trying to glamorized the case than showing the actual facts...but in this altbalaji webseries it more about the actual facts and details of the cases...I didn't knew earlier that they have enacted the same scene which has happened during the real life trial of the case in the courtroom...

And the most heartbreaking think is this whole series was everyone move on with their lives including Kavas Nanavati and his family even if Kavas served time in jail but it was Mimi Ahuja (Prem Ahuja's) sister who lost everything her brother, beautiful house and also her bank balance and never moved on with her life...bcs at the end she was a sister who lost her brother the last living member of her immediate family after her parents...poor soul really felt bad for her in the entire series...

P.S. I'm glad they mentioned Pooja Gor named who played a feminist young girl in 50s and her hardship who has her own dreams rather than just getting married to some rich handsome guy...

Being a Parsi, playing a Sindhi in Nanavati story is poetic: Viraf

Being a Parsi, playing a Sindhi in Nanavati story is poetic: Viraf

Mumbai, Sep 26 (IANS) Actor Viraf Firoz Patel finds it quite poetic that, being a Parsi, he gets to portray the Sindhi businessman who was allegedly killed by the Parsi Naval officer KM Nanavati, in the upcoming web series "The Verdict: State vs Nanavati".

Parsis as a community are a small minority of the Indian population. The story of the show is based on the real-life case of 1959 -- KM Nanavati vs State of Maharashtra -- where Indian Naval Commander Kawas Manekshaw Nanavati was accused of the murder of a Sindhi businessman, Prem Ahuja. Viraf plays Prem Ahuja.

Asked how he looks at the whole incident, Viraf told IANS: "The Parsi community is not really altruistic. They are trying to save the reputation of their community, as well as the reputation of the country. In this particular case, that is what they tried to achieve. Kawas Nanavati came from an affluent household. There was a sense of entitlement in the upbringing and also the fact that he was one of the finest officers of the Indian Navy, that he did pick up the gun at a point of rage to kill someone. But here is the irony -- It is a very poetic thing that a Parsi guy (himself) is assigned to narrate the character of a Sindhi man who is killed by a Parsi! The moment this realisation crossed my mind, I found it poetic. I had a smile on my face, on the poetry of fate."

Created and developed by Ekta Kapoor, the show features Manav Kaul, Elli AvrRam, Sumeet Vyas, Makrand Deshpande, Soni Razdan, Saurabh Shukla among others.

The story of Nanavati is well known, and the Akshay Kumar film "Rustom" has already narrated the incident on screen. Won''t the show come across as a sort of repetition?

"When the script was offered to me, the question that came to my mind was why were we even doing the show because ''Rustom'' was quite successful. I said I would audition for the role, and read all the episodes to get a clear idea. From the beginning, I was sure I would not repeat anything that has been done already," he said.

Emphasising on how the show intends to focus on the complexity of the whole situation, the actor said: "We human beings are complex. Society tends to condition our mind and simplify everything by putting the tags of ''right'' and ''wrong'', and then we manipulate situations accordingly. This show tries putting all aspects on the table."

The show has tried to capture the story by exploring the involvement of various characters in the case in a nuanced manner.

According to the actor, a film has the limitation of time and format that often needs the story to be oversimplified. In case of this story, this could leads to the overlooking of certain aspects that may be instrumental in the court decision.

"Yes, there is evidence that Prem Ahuja was a womaniser, but he was also in love with Sylvia and wanted to marry her. These possibilities added complexity to the character of Prem Ahuja," he added.

"The Verdict: State vs Nanavati" will start streaming on the OTT platforms ZEE5 and AltBalaji from September 30.

It is kind of very poetic thing that a Parsi guy (himself) is assigned to narrate the character of a Sindhi man who is killed by a Parsi! It's a epitome on the poetry of fate...this thought has occured in my mind too but it's called acting and privilege for an actor to play different kind of roles...Viraf Patel a trained Merchant Naval Officer and a Paris himself in real life just played the role opposite of him...Its called cinematic freedom, real art, free from all stereotypes ..
