A fanclub dedicated to Shaheer Sheikh

Recently, a group of fans, including me, did a project on Shaheer that was launched on his birthday. While we were collating material to show how Shaheer influences fans / ppl in the right way, we came across a wonderful initiative done by the Bhavan's College, Ahmedabad and we shared it on the project handle on Twitter : @ShaheersOdyssey.

I also wanted to share it here so ppl in this fandom know more about how a responsible celebrity can make such a massive difference through equally responsible, passionate fans.

This is an initiative by the students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sheth R. A. College of arts and Commerce P.G. College, Ahmedabad. It is called the Save the Planet club.

Our Honbl Prime Minister Narendra Modiji mooted the idea of a youth icon to be the face of the Bhavan's college Save the Planet club. Shaheer Sheikh became that youth icon:

The SavethePlanet club was inaugurated by the then Cabinet MEA Late Smt. Sushma Swaraj on the 9th of January, 2015, in presence of Gen V.K. Singh, MOS, External Affairs.

Bollywood has not been far behind in extending their support. Seen here are noted director IMTIAZ ALI along with actors ALIA BHATT & RANBIR HOODA, and MAYUR PURI, screenwriter, lyricist, and filmmaker.

Since then the club has gone from strength to strength. It has gotten support and has been adopted by people from all fields - Students, staff, professionals, Olympic and national players, Police officers, (ctd.)

This club has received international recognition and there are many dignitaries involved in its activities. These ppl have done some incredible work since the launch of the club, all in Shaheer's name. Many of the members are die hard fans of Shaheer, of course and they follow his ideals, by taking up social causes, working to safeguard the environment in many many ways.

In fact, the club's members have been active during this lockdown, distributing masks, sanitizers and safety products. They have been feeding the corporation cleaners who are worst affected. They have even rescued animals that have been abandoned in this situation.

Just wanted to share this here to show how fans can make such a big difference if the celebrity they follow is socially responsible and he uses his social media presence to spread the right message. Hats off to these ppl and immense respect for Shaheer for making sure he influences fans in the right way.
