No one watches them and no one cares lol Zoya Factor made more money than some of these movies

Except it wouldn't change the fact that Marathi is not South.😆 Neither is Punjabi, Gujarati or Bhojpuri cinema.

@red
And that is certainly not a fact.😆

The only reason Bollywood remakes southern films is because no one watches those films. Most of the world doesn’t watch South films. Yet people always come to the BOLLYWOOD forum to promote and elevate the Southern industry, do we even have a South sub forum? Does anyone even visit that part?

For example I’m sure more people have heard and seen Dhadak than the south version of it - I don’t even remember the title see!

And don’t get me started on the actors from Vijay Anaconda to Tinku Rajguru - theyre all useless and not star worthy

I just find the films to be weird. I rather watch a bad Sonam Kapoor movie tbh

😆

Lmao are you dumb? How can you include Punjabi in South when it pretty much doesn't get more North than that.

The rest I have to agree, it annoys me too when people come here and start dissing Bollywood while putting South cinema on a pedestal. Their actors look like trash and their masala genre is even more mindless than that of Bollywood. Some of their actresses can look pretty, but those are usually from Punjabi, Marathi or Bollywood industry themselves.

First of all stop lumping all the four industries as 'South'. Each of them is distinct and have different standards. Your opinion seems similar to Rani's character from Aiyya. A few midnight dubbed films and suddenly she thinks she knows everything about Tamil cinema and it's all 'Dreamum wakeupum'.

Also beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.Actors have to show more versatility-play a large range of characters and thereby escape the strict standards from Bollywood..Bollywood movies from the 50s upto the 70s used to cater to all tastes.After that escapist and larger-than-life films were all that survived. Those of the audience who still wanted a touch of reality and quality had to look elsewhere. It's only now that Bollywood films have become more inclusive again.Speaking about only Malayalam films-they are generally strong script-wise and the audience demand a sense of realism to the proceedings.Also talent-less good looking actors are shown the door soon enough.For eg: Tiger Shroff and Siddharth wouldn't survive.Rajkummar Rao would have got better appreciation. Also since the budget is nowhere near that of the Bollywood, technical excellence and outdoor locations(no sets plus more realism) gets more importance. Does that mean all Malayalam films have these qualities? No.Some of them are star vehicles which pander to the fans with no eye on quality.But they become hits anyway. So every industry has its problems. I'll sum it up by saying Malayalam industry was very much inspired by the parallel cinema movement of the 70s - you know those Hrishikesh Mukherjee movies meant for the middleclass -Chupke Chupke, Golmaal,Abhimaan etc. Social issues,humor and strong roles for women.

Uhh what, there are plenty of beautiful South Indian actresses. They don't need to be North Indian to be pretty

There are 4 industries down south don't club all of them into one bracket... Malayalam movies don't have budget like a Telungu /tamil/bolly movie bt they are good n relatable. Malayalam has whole lot of talent n every side actor fair/dark/ugly/pretty get to play lead roles n shine.. Even superstars doesn't have any issue sharing their screen as far as their character is good.. There are masala movies in Malayalam too bt there are equal or more good films to balance it..

I will lump them together because none of them matter. As I said - no one is watching these films and the impact is very low. They may be distinct but they don’t matter. That’s why I even throw other regional movies in the same category

Y’all need Bollywood’s platform to elevate those industries - that’s why I deleted the rest of your post because I will not allow you to use me to promote these dormant industries. I’m not Chandramukhi from Devdas, ke koi bhi aayega mujhe nachane ke liye
