I think both of them are figuring each other out slowly. Two things happened in that scene -- Kunal dropped the unilateral decision he made to leave for Bhuj after the Pooja on Kuhu, and Kuhu asked Kunal to request if they could do the pooja along with Mishti and Abir. Both of them had to disappoint each other but I think they learned from that, especially Kunal.
Yes, Kuhu vaguely expressed the wish to do something but I don't think that means she should necessarily drop everything to oblige the moment Kunal shows some initiative. And then, I liked the way they talked the Pooja out. Kuhu communicated that it was important to her and tested her boundaries with Kunal. He shot down the idea of doing the Pooja with MA point blank, because he sees it as Abir's thing, but he did offer compromises of doing another Pooja/doing this one at another temple. Kuhu wanted all or nothing so in the end she peacefully settled for nothing.
Kunal confessed that he's never been into the whole Pooja scene, but the next day he decided to go with the family because he learned it was important to her. As much as I would love to see them enjoy a romantic getaway, this felt like a more substantial development in their relationship.
