She is clearly not the best in terms of talent in an industry with people like Deepika, Kangana, Priyanka, Ranveer, Ranbir, etc. She just gets all the “acting” roles in serious films handed to her while contemporaries like Shraddha, Sonakshi, Kriti are left with mostly flowerpot roles or surefire flops.

And I think most of us can she’s not the best in terms of looks either- Shraddha, Sonakshi, Yami, countless others in her generation (which imo is generally mediocre in looks compared to previous generations) are ahead of her.

Its not just being average looking either but having nothing striking or unique about her like say Kajol, who I would say isn’t classically beautiful but she definitely stands out and looks striking/interesting in her own way, while Alia is just PLAIN.

And lastly, Alia just does not have the huge popularity and fan following the media tries to make her seem like she has!! I remember when she first debuted around the same time as Shraddha, Parineeti, Sonakshi they were all being appreciated by different sections while no one really cared about Alia. Among the actual public the situation is still pretty much the same- Parineeti may have disappeared and Sona may not be a huge star but Shraddha is still way more popular than Alia, and a lot of other actors who may not be super talented still have a lot of fan following (Kartik Aryan being one recent example). But Alia just isn’t one of those people!

But anyway, basically she is most certainly NOT the best. Rant over lol 😐.

Actually..the next generation of actors are more likely to be equalized in terms of stardom mainly because of the focus on content. Alia is publicized as a star, more so over her contemporaries right from her debut in SOTY. So I completely agree, that her stardom is mostly PR based than real.Her big popularity and trust from the audience is coming from her doing great content. And her getting great conetent, lets admit is mostly by privelege to be a part of great roles/films. No one gives credit to shraddha enough..but she has more mass appeal, ...and has achieved that without this media based publcity that karan has given the likes of Alia. I have never seen her fake relationships either for attention.

IDK about Kriti and Parineeti, as they are still not in their leagues mainly due to not making a huge mark with their films as of yet

Tbh I do think that although content is getting better, there will always be some actors even in the next generation who the audience will love much more than others, which will make them bigger stars imo. Like look at Hollywood, content is mostly better but some actors do enjoy a huge stardom as a result of fan following but others just don’t 🤷🏽‍♀️.

I 100% agree with you on the second pint though! The little fan following that Alia actually has outside the media is from people who simply like content driven/arty movies and would watch them with almost any actor. And there is definitely a huge bias when it comes to her getting cast in roles of that nature.

And everyone in the media seems to either ignore Shraddha all together or brand her as just a pretty face or a “non actress” (as they seem to do with almost all of Alia’s competition 🤔🤔) when (while I’m actually not a huge Shraddha fan or anything) I actually find her to be a better actress than “Mini Meryl Streep” Alia. And clearly most people in the real world seem to agree as Shraddha is loved way more than Alia.

And as for the others (Kriti, Yami, etc.) they are pretty much on the same boat as Shraddha, if not being worse off due to having no nepotism connections. 😕

Like it or not Alia is the best of the younger crop. She was terrible when she started out in Highway. But KJo hoodwinked everyone into believing she's a gift of the Gods.But she has definitely improved over time. But she still has a long way to go. If only she can stop picking roles which she can't connect with or not old enough to have the necessary life experience.eg: Dear Zindagi. As for her contemporaries

Shraddha -limited ,can't handle anything deep. She knows it after Hasina Parkar and will play to her strengths.

Kriti - has the looks and star quality and not to forget the fair complexion for a Hindi film heroine. But acting hasn't improved beyond a limit.

Parineeti and Sonakshi - Talented and beautiful.But poor choice of roles.Everybody has sort of written them out. Plus the constant harping about their weight . Probably a PR strategy by their rivals initially but the social media took it up.

Jahnvi, Sara, Ananya, Alaya - Too early to tell.Wait till 5-6 films to decide whether they will peak or not.

Vaani - Took her best years off and nobody except Adi cares. The audience have a short memory. That and the unnecessary work done on her face.

I will agree that she is the best of the lot currently but the reason she is the best is because she has been able to show that she is the best. In terms of performance and acting, I would rate her below Sonakshi, Vaani, Parineeti without a doubt (thats just my opinion) in acting. I feel all the talented ones all have potential as long as they get the opportunity to show it. I dont really believe talent is ever written off, it goes unnoticed. If it did, than someone like ayushmann wouldn't have blown up.

I still couldn't agree Alia is BEST..Clearly she got the roles which are well crafted like Raazi but if you give the same character to her competitors like sonakshi, parineeta, they will also do the same job. In kalank even though small role sanakshi was good, while in Raazi Vicky was good compared to her and she was OK but couldn't nailed the character like Kangana in fashion,queen, TWN, manikarnika or even Priyanka in Aitraaz, Barfi, fashion marykom even with a small role in Bajirao.

Alia was good but not BEST just like Deepika who cann't standout in even best main role like Padmaavaat and Bajirao while others outshine if given meaty role.

Plus I never said that Shraddha is the most beautiful, best actress or has THE biggest fan base ever. Just that she’s better than Alia in all these respects.🤷🏽‍♀️

Best or not I don’t know but she is a good actress...Except in the crying scenes, she has rarely got it wrong....

I don’t know why people call Alia versatile when she was pathetic in Kalank. Nobody likes to mention that performance for some reason.
