The show Indian celebs are appearing on is not that one. I think they revived Man vs. Wild for an India-based season which will only air in the country. Modi's episode didn't air anywhere outside India. I wanted to watch it so I remember looking for it. I think later Netflix India picked it up.

That makes sense. I was also thinking why would they chose Indian celebs for an international audience, I understand the concept now.

It's really smart of them. Bear Gryll's show was always really popular in India. I used to see people watching it dubbed in Hindi, just the normal episodes too, not the HW celebrity ones. Modi's episode did extremely well.

Now if they do a season with Indian celebs, it will be big in India and at least it's a different concept compared to doing the same boring jokes in KWK type talk shows.

Virat is not doing the show according to his spokesperson.

On touching base with his management agency Cornerstone they stated, "Virat Kohli is not going to be on the show Bear Grylls Man vs Wild as per media reports that allegedly state that he would be shooting for the same".

He might first have to seek permission from the board, God knows what clause will they put in (for certain things to be shown on TV and what not) which makes the whole process quite tedious. Aagey God knows.

Ps a show with Bear Grylls is still better than getting your image ruined in KWK.😆

What a joke is this! Why should cricketers take permission to do something in their personal capacity? Do they have no individual freedom at all?

AFAIK, cricket is just a contract they sign to play for a team. BCCI, or whatever board, gets to decide what they do within the specific time they allocated as part of the contract. Outside of it, it is no one's business.

I work 8 hours a day for my employer, but I can never imagine if they start dictating my life after office hours also. It's unacceptable and simply ridiculous.

I don't know if you are aware but if you are employed by central government, you are governed by conduct rules and there are a lot of things that you want to do in your personal space that you have to seek permission for before doing them. Though BCCI is an independent body, it surely binds players in contracts and we don't know what might be the things they have to seek permission for.

Eg. If I have to apply for passport, I need to take permission from my employer. If I want to go abroad, I need to take permission for that as well. If I accept a gift from someone that exceeds a certain limit, I need to declare or take permission for that as well. I can't tell you how many things are there that I can't do in my personal capacity without taking permission.🤪

Won't be an issue...Hardik himself has appeared in two chat shows after that...VK himself recently was a part of a food chat show...Hitman did it too

But BCCI is not a government body, and cricketers represent BCCI and not India when they play the sport. So how can they come under central govt's conduct rules?

It's a private for-profit body, so why can't its private employees enjoy the same privileges of any other private employee in India? If the contract actually dictates who you can meet and how you can spend your time, it is extremely exploitative. How can people sign away their lives like this..

As I said, it's not about chat show appearance or anything else for that matter, it's more about what BCCI allows you to be a part of and then what parts are trimmed out. Also, I'm not aware of the clauses in these players' contract with BCCI as well, and I'm not staying anything as a matter of fact. I'm drawing some parallels only. When anyone is employed with an organization, they are bound by some contract by the employer and at the time of KWK fiasco, BCCI did make their clauses stricter to avoid any future mockery and questioning on it's ethics.

I clearly stated in my post that BCCI is an independent organization and nowhere I said they are governed by central govts conduct rules, I just gave you an example that different organizations have different rules and clauses in their contract and what BCCI has, we may never know.

Govt bodies can be independent organizations.

BCCI being an independent organization doesn't make the distinction clear whether it is govt or non-govt. That's why I elaborated on the same.
