Because it was planned by the makers themselves. They were probably hanging on and waiting to play this card in the final few weeks. Look at the sequence of events:

- Message comes through Parag. Hype starts building

- Paras bashed for double-timing OUT OF THE BLUE (after months of laughing about it!)

- Asim announced/made to feel solely responsible for Himanshi's broken engagement

- Asim asked to be 'a man' and take responsibility of Himanshi for life

- Himanshi's new song drops. Huge hit. Promoted on Voot.

- Huge hype over the AsiManshi reunion.

- VG tells Sana (who is starting to trust Asim) & more importantly the camera that Asim isn't single

(Next step? If I had to guess...)

- Salman brutally destroys Asim for breaking somebody's engagement while still having a girlfriend outside. Paints him as an evil manipulator doing anything for the game, to detract his voters. Maybe even kicks him out or something.

This is pure speculation obviously, but alot of people have connected these dots. This is why it was so important for Umar and Shruti to disclose the truth that he is single IMMEDIATELY after the promo aired. They both did, and now it has become common knowledge. But a huge majority (something like 85%) of the Bigg Boss viewing public isn't involved in Twitter fandoms and social media hype. For them to be made aware of this disgusting trick that backfired, we are trending #ClearAsimsName. The pressure is now on the channel to, for its own reputation's sake, clear out that they aired a falsehood.
