...it would have barely got 1 crore opening. It was a grim subject, and the movie was more like a documentary. Still, it made a decent 35 crores. I should say thanks to DP's star-power
Look at the openings of SIP, Mardaani 2, Zoya Factor and Panga. All of them are well-made, commercial films, and yet they got lower opening than Chapaak. In recent times, Chapaak is the highest opening for a female-centric movie ( and by that I mean last one year). It wasn't even a well-made film, and DP was playing a disfigured character.
Can we please give credit where its due?
