Maya can jump into ocean, mud or a shark tank if it is strategically planned. Otherwise she stumbles when something happens without any kind of anticipation, and this ankit popped out of nowhere in her grand scheme. also, it is highly likely that she had a panic attack for real because she was assaulted just like this in the past and chances are it took her back to that dark place. Now I'm waiting to see how she gets out of the mud.
I agree that Maya is not always prepared for surprise attacks. But she is a player who always gathers her semblance and turns the game around in her favour. Just like she did in Rishi's case. Same she will do in Ankit's case too.
