we need to watch the episode to see what happens but I think Maya's Panic in the precap is genuine.

Maya can jump into ocean, mud or a shark tank if it is strategically planned. Otherwise she stumbles when something happens without any kind of anticipation, and this ankit popped out of nowhere in her grand scheme. also, it is highly likely that she had a panic attack for real because she was assaulted just like this in the past and chances are it took her back to that dark place. Now I'm waiting to see how she gets out of the mud.

I agree that Maya is not always prepared for surprise attacks. But she is a player who always gathers her semblance and turns the game around in her favour. Just like she did in Rishi's case. Same she will do in Ankit's case too.

A very good point you stated.👍🏼 She may go on a break with him on grounds that she does not trust him. And also she could say that after what his dad did with Rudra, and now via Ankit, she doesn't want to date him. He may try winning her over again, but by then MayRa may become a thing.
