Good Newwz Holds Up Strongly On Monday

Tuesday 31 December 2019 12.15 IST Box Office India Trade Network

Good Newwz held up very well on Monday as it picked up 13 crore nett with a drop of only 25%. The film could have done better if ticket rates were held at weekend rates as its mainly a big multiplex film and with this audience higher weekend rates till Wednesday would not have decreased the footfalls. The film could have added 10-15% to its collections.

The total collections of the film are now a solid 78 crore nett and it is pretty much sure to be a HIT even if collections come down post the holiday period. The film should do well over New Years Eve and New Years Day and the week could be around 120 crore nett or even higher. This will be higher than the first week of Dabangg 3 despite having a lower start than that film. The collections of Good Newwz till date are as follows.

Friday - 17,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 21,50,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 26,00,00,000 apprx

Monday - 13,00,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 78,00,00,000 apprx

So I watched Good Newwz today on New Year's Eve. Thought that it'll be a fun movie, but man, it was disappointing. First of all, the trailers make the movie look like a comedy but it's more of a drama. The jokes except a few fail to pack a punch. The plot is wafer thin. Nothing much happens in the movie and nothing extra happens which we haven't seen in the trailers.

Anyway, what made me roll my eyes were the messages in the film. The movie gives the message that abortion = murder. May I know in which century are we living in? If people really started thinking like that then the world's population will get double. There will be millions of children with no food and shelter. What's the point of giving them life if it can't be good?

Also the movie looks down on adoption. Promotes it with regressive dialogues like "blood is thicker than water", "apna khoon apna hota hai". Adoption is a noble deed. But people don't go for it because of beliefs like this. We don't need a movie to reinforce these outdated messages. Giving a good life to a kid is any day better than taking your genes forward only to overpopulate the world.

can we stop forcing our beliefs and thoughts onto other people.

I also believe that blood is thicker than water and that pro-creating with your own blood and supply is the way to go. That doesn’t mean that I am regressive or taking away from adoption. Some people don’t want to adopt and want ivf, unki marzi hai yaar.....

peopel can do as they please. If you have that much of an issue then tum adopt kar lena? Don’t go around and tell other people what to do

Yes, people can do whatever they want. I'm not telling them to adopt or anything. But this movie looks down on abortion and adoption. That's what I've a problem with.

Good Newzz Shows Solid Upturn On Tuesday

Tuesday 31 December 2019 23.30 ISTBox Office India Trade Network

Good Newzz showed a solid upturn in business on Tuesday as it collected in the 16 crore nett range to take its five day total to 94 crore nett apprx. The growth on day five was around 25% due to New Years Eve. The makes it almost a certain 20 crore nett plus Wednesday with chances to go towards the 25 crore nett mark.

The film is sustaining well across multiplexes all over with even the smaller plexes holding decent numbers over the weekdays. This is the sort of trending that Dabangg 3 should have showed last week as it was a similar sort of period though Christmas Eve is not as big as New Years Eve as far as the Indian box office is concerned.

The important numbers now will be on Thursday and Friday as those will tell where this film can go. Its a open week which is a huge plus and should hold strongly as that has been the case with films which have worked. The first week should now be around the 125 crore nett mark which will; be almost double the weekend business.
