Babita is a classic example of a woman who was too immature to be anybody's mother but had a child because marriage and children is what society expected of her.

She is not an evil woman but she has always been a poor parent. It was her job, as a parent, to look after her child. It was not Mini's duty as a teenager to be anybody's emotional support. Ashok was a terrible husband and her in-laws took her for granted but whatever her relationship with those people, she has no right to try and cut the cord on behalf of her daughter. Mini should be allowed to make her own decisions with regards to what parts of her family she wants to be in touch with. Babita certainly didn't have the right to burn a letter that was not hers to read or force Mini to only accept her version of events.

It's time Indian society stops putting parents on pedestals. They are human like everyone else and can have uninformed, and stupid notions about the world around them. Opinions are always welcome, but ultimately every individual has to take a decision for themselves. At some point, parents can only advice and guide their children and hope that their kids remember the values they were brought up with to make the right decision for themselves.

Babita started out as a sympathetic character. But the writers always wrote her as someone who took one step forward and two steps back. she oscillated between being someone who doted on her daughter to someone who could not recognize the turmoil her child was going through or stop worrying about what the world thought of her and her life. That was her undoing.

Also, just to be clear - post 18 I don't believe ANY parent is obligated to pay for their child. In many countries they don't and honestly those kids grow up to be less spoilt and more independent. Just because something is tradition doesn't make it right.

Well that's the reasons fans are angry with writers for portraying babes as an ancient woman rather than 21century.She wouldn't be like this if writers would not be obsessed with minimania... For making mini bechari, selfless, sacrificing and mahan Gopi bahu of ITV who could never ever be wrong, they didn't left any stone unturned to butcher the character of babes which is way over the top for us viewers to digest... We won't enjoy watching this so just left the show and you are liking the show plz do continue watching. Nothing wrong in it...

If that’s how you think,I’m sorry to say i pitty on your low thinking

She is not an evil woman but she has always been a poor parent. It was her job, as a parent, to look after her child. It was not Mini's duty as a teenager to be anybody's emotional support.

She was never a poor parent .Guess you’re watching a different show all together.

It’s not her job but her responsibility to look after her child which she did beautifully .Otherwise how do u think is Mini surviving..Since you feel so highly of Mini,do u think some angel came down to bless her with?.

If Mini is praised by you those praiseworthy qualities itself came from her Mother.

It’s Mini’s duty to be Babita’s emotional support!..Mini is not some stranger to Babita she’s her daughter.Babita is Mini’s responsiblity too as it’s vice versa!.Mini has not done anything extraordinary , she has done only what a daughter would do..What me or any loving daughter would do.May be you don’t feel it’s a daughter’s duty to support your own Mother but I would!

Ashok was a terrible husband and her in-laws took her for granted but whatever her relationship with those people, she has no right to try and cut the cord on behalf of her daughter.

Oho..So for your real kind information it’s Mini who broke her ties with her family, she’s the one who made her break Mother’s ties with her parents !Just cos Mini is showing double standards now can’t expect for Babita too do the same.

Mini should be allowed to make her own decisions with regards to what parts of her family she wants to be in touch with.

Who’s is stopping her ?.She has been visiting her grandparents every now and then.but Mini has forced her Mother to acknowledge her ex in laws which is not acceptable..When Mini feels, Babita should cut relations with her inlaws and when Mini feels her Mother should be normal to her inlaws..Who’s Babita her servant?

Babita certainly didn't have the right to burn a letter that was not hers to read or force Mini to only accept her version of events.

If Mini has every right to take decisions on her Mother’s behalf y can’t her Mother do so ?.Who forced Mini to accept only Babita’s version only?..Did Babita ever talk about her inlaws or husband badly?..Was her saying anything the reason that Mini broke relations with her father n GP?..Have u even watched initial episodes or simply seen few scenes here and there?

Sorry i don’t buy that...INDIVIDUALITY AND FREEDOM IS ONE THING AND HURTING YOUR PARENTS BEING OPPORTUNISTIC,HYPOCRITE IS TOTALLY ANOTHER THING.SHE CANNOT BE A SPOILT BRAT ,RUDE AND INSENSITIVE TOWARDS HER MOTHER.If being that is called your westernization and modernization sorry I don’t agree..Just cos you hate Indian society and just cos you think following western culture is foward thinking and right so be it..Need not impose it ..Every culture has it’s advantages and disadvantages..We Indians value family,we may fight with our parents, argue with them ,may take steps which they might not like but we don’t behave so insensitively..We throw them away from us never looking back for so long..

Burning a letter is not a very big issue as your portaying it,it can be solved with a conversation ..Mini here is too selfish and insensitive towards her Mother..The way she’s behaved i feel whether she ever loved her mother...How can you be angry if you love your mother so much for 5 years?

Babita started out as a sympathetic character. That was her undoing.

Who helped her daughter come out of the depression phase?..She’s the one who didn’t care about world only about daughter.

Also, just to be clear - post 18 I don't believe ANY parent is obligated to pay for their child. In many countries they don't and honestly those kids grow up to be less spoilt and more independent. Just because something is tradition doesn't make it right.

Just cos you don’t believe that doesn’t mean it isn’t.Here India a person starts working only after finishing studies whether it’s Graduation/PG/PHD ..Nobody works for part time to pay for their studies or their personal needs...Here even Mini didn’t,so how is she supposed to find finance?..with a fantasy. one day modeling?..The show is still in Indian context not a western show..This is the reality of India n this is the reality of Mini. She was still dependent on her mother for finance so couldn’t take admissions before..It would have been really great of her to look for part time jobs and earn money for her needs instead she chose to blame Babita in that too and portray herself sympathetic..Really westernization can’t be selective..I don’t think Childrem from western countries blame their parents and wait for them to pay for their kid’s needs ?.
