Rancho in 3 Idiots was a jerk.

While we always talk about how SRK's iconic characters Raj, Rahul, Aman were a jerk or a creep, I don't think we ever did it for Aamir's Rancho. Wasn't he a jerk to change Chatur's speech although they didn't have any enemity before that? What's Rancho's problem if Chatur mugs up things? Why did he have to insult him in front of the whole college? What if Chatur had committed suicide after that insult? It would no longer make Rancho look cool, would it?

One Chatur less, would make the world better anyways.

Rancho usko aur hum sab ko ye samjhana chahta tha ki bina soche samjhe bas ratta maarne se kya hota hai..jo padhte ho usko socho, samjho aur phir logo ke saamne rakho..

Chatur was a bigger jerk... He was belittling other students so rancho just gave him some humble pie

If a guy's attention gets shifted from his Exams due to a dirty magazine, I would blame the guy not Chatur😆

Chatur was an obnoxious annoying piece of prick.. but he did not deserve the humiliation that was metted out to him simply because Rancho wanted to prove a point to his friend, who incidentally did not even get the point.. he indeed was a jerk and yes the consequences cox have been dire had Chatur taken this humiliation the other way

It was a funny scene for a movie lbr, but what Rancho did was uncalled for.

Chatur did not deserve that.

Chatur got so angry at him afterwards, and he couldn't even get why. As if saying, 'I only did it for Raju' would suddenly make it okay.

I agree, that is one of the few scenes which makes me hate that movie and Hirani....

That humiliation could've been fatal for chatur and he didn't deserve this no matter how he was prior..... And to make Rancho look cool even after that scene was too much imo...

Another scene was where the ladakhi school kids give chatur a shock for pee'ing in the school premises.... While pee'ing in open is wrong, giving shock to someone is a serious offences, even if you control the voltage and showing kids doing that was cheap...

The popular guy in our school/college is not always the most righteous one. Probably he wouldn't even be that famous if he were so righteous. Hirani just exploited this sentiment of the audience, where 90% of the people would love to see "perfect toppers" like Chatur be made fun of, even if it's borderline bullying or harassment. And it worked!

I agree .... Rancho was quite a bully in his approach be it with Chatur or other characters in movie! But it's also true most of the other characters had a degree of vileness which compensated his bullying!

So much uni dimensional intense moral policing makes one kind of cringe.
